Round pairing issues. Help anyone?

By NeverBetTheFett, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

At a recent tournament with 14 players (4 rounds swiss) I was using the app SW IA for the ipad and when it came to round 4, it had paired people who already played. This was denoted in yellow. What do you do at this point? Look at the standings and manually change the pairings to match as best as possible? This also means other pairings change which could again include people who already played each other. Any thoughts? Remedies?

Also, does anyone know how you can see SOS and extended SOS with this ap?

We had that issue at a store tournament in Omaha, and the TO gave us the option to re-play matches or play a new opponent. We unanimously wanted new opponents, and he was somehow able to adjust the schedule. Not sure what the tech side was, but from a player perspective, that felt like the right call.

You are supposed to tap on Edit and manually change the pairings. The app will show the previous opponents of each player so you can randomly choose another one. Doing so might result in others players showing up in yellow as well, that’s why the app will not attempt to sort it out itself. In some cases, one need to pair again some other players to find a solution. I couldn’t find any 100% reliable algorithm to solve this problem, so the best is to let the TO manually arrange the pairings, which might require some fiddling.

You can get the SoS of each players on the results screen.

Ok. Thanks. I'm glad to hear it's not an easy fix, as it seemed a bit more complicated than I expected it to be. What about extended SoS? I know IA uses that often to break ties. But I suppose it does the rankings for you, so it must have an algorithm that doesn't include me.

The extended SoS is also on the results screen, you need to tap on a player to get the details.
