Assault on Grayskull Base Narrative After Action Discussion

By Biff, in X-Wing Battle Reports

The Shuttle Tydirium recently released a special edition podcast focusing on the Assault on Grayskull Base Narrative Campaign. The discussion is centered around my local hosting of this campaign, pulling in several of the participating players to share their thoughts, strategies, favorite bits and areas that need some work. We are joined by Phil, the campaign designer, mid way through the conversation and he treats us to a preview of changes under development to certain missions and the overall campaign. Hope you enjoy it!

I played in the Vassal campaign and had a great time. Strongly recommended, especially since Phil and the rest of the crew are working to fine-tune some balance issues with the individual missions.

+1 - I've played in the Vassal campaign and I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience :)

Highly recommended! :)

I've gone through the campaign 3 times now... Need to run it through with Imperial ships still, but I'm content to wait a bit. This isn't a complaint, I just want to take my foot off the gas when it comes to running events for a little while.

Here's the info connected to the run at the local shop. Not a lot of detail...

The advantages to the system?

  • Looks and feels like Star Wars
  • A lot of random fun stuff being put together into lists
  • Love the different missions and objectives

Disadvantage?

  • Some players had problems with the paperwork
  • Some players made mistakes on the objectives and did the mission wrong
  • VCX and x7 Defenders... Uhg. Mostly the VCX though...
  • The turrets in the final round were a bit too much in tipping the scales
  • Time was a huge issue running the final mission on a casual night at the store AND on Vassal

It looks like more disadvantages than advantages, but it's not really. It's totally worth trying out.
