Indeed, and the rumors that I hear is that they will indeed be producing a watered-down version for standard play, and something more powerful for some sort of epic play. I agree that the bigger the better in terms of making it feel right.
Where I disagree with you is that the scale issues are prohibitive. I hear that they've play-tested it, and they're going to be introducing it soon. The rumors I've heard may be wrong. I think they're right, and I think that many people will buy it - enough to make it a money-maker for them, even if it will probably not be their biggest profit maker.
