Each mat is 3' x 3', and 'combine to make a single 3' x 6' mat' if you want.
Kinda...busy-looking, but should work okay for X-Wing

Yuck, I do not like those.
The AT-AT tracks one just looks ridiculous. Where is the AT-AT headed?
And why are the tracks larger than the ruined AT-AT foot sitting right next to them for easy comparison??

Maybe AT-DP foot as the debris in the sand and the footprint is AT-AT?
I'm just waiting for an official FFG Scarif Shield Gate mat!!!

Here's hoping for campaign missions too!

That seems unlikely.
I think it was a collaborative project. The foot was made by the department that makes their cardboard cluster mines, while the footprints were done by the acrylic cluster mines department.
In both instances, their QA department had the day off.

That would be sweet.

Eh, I prefer mats that can represent more than one battle location. Same issue with the DS2 mat - one battle, and one battle only was fought in a scene that looked anything like that.
Less of an issue with the Cloud City map (there may be other stations like that around the galaxy, and in any case THAT station clearly changed hands a few times, so was probably the site of a number of battles) and Death Star 1 mat (while "we know" it's the Yavin system we're looking at, the planets are far enough in the background to be sufficiently fuzzy that it could just as easily be the Jedha system or even Scarif or Alderaan...)
Yikes. Those are really not very pretty.

What you don't like vomit colored mats with a scale that's neither consistent with the game they're designed for, nor consistent within themselves?
Picky!
Those are a bit of a mess which I suppose is the point. I think Legion is meant to appeal to the 40K player and the design aesthetic there is certainly "noisy."

Yep. Caught that right away without really intending too and then you can't un-see it. And I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how those are going to go together to make one big pretty picture. Nor can I figure how two of one together might make a pretty picture. Then you're meant to put your own terrain over the terrain. Noisy.
First mat obviously not ok for X-Wing. TIE-fighter ion panel on surface significally larger than panels on actual miniatures (have to be conversly).
Edited by bernhMats are useless without terrain pieces to put on them. That's what FFG should be selling first for Legion, not these mats.

That's what I thought - I'd play these with 40k, but they don't seem to fit to x wing in my eyes
Errr thanks but no thanks. I've made a mistake of playing xwing on a desert map once and I don't plan on repeating it anytime soon. Asteroids have similar colour to the background and it plays merry **** with your ability to judge distance. Normally I can tell whether a certain maneuver will make me clip a rock or not even if it goes down to a milimeter difference between one and the other. That one game both me and my opponent would keep running into asteroids as if we were drunk - even when we were 99% sure we were safe. Never again....

You're right, definitely can't un-see. The biggest problem for me is that is more like a bipedal track pattern rather than a quadruped.
Omg, my eyes!
Maybe, MAYBE, I would fly a U-wing or some Strikers around those mats, but man, those are hideous. Legion deserves bettet
They look better than that Hoth mat. Seriously they should have not tried to make it look like a high orbit. It works for Bespin but those Giant AT-AT should not be viable from low orbit. Maybe the Ion Cannon and Power generators but that is it. AT-ATs should have been the size of Ants.

Yeah, I complain about that every time I see one. How small is Hoth for use to clearly make out the details of an AT-AT AND the curvature of the planet at the same time, supposedly from high orbit?

I agree that it doesn't make much sense but that one at least looks pretty. I think it's supposed to be somewhat abstract.
These ones are just wrong on every level. Scale problems, pallet problems, busy-ness problems, and conceptual problems (putting terrain on top of terrain is weird).
A good sandy table mat would be just slightly textured sand dunes with maybe a krayt dragon skeleton. Something simple that won't clash when you put actual 3D terrain on it.

Scale? Did you say scale?

Not only that, but the feet don't line up with the direction of actual travel - last I checked, those little toes should be pointing directly forward, yeah? Go look at the direction of the tracks again.
Either the walker was drunk, or it needs a foot realignment... ![]()
I just don’t get it...why would they make a 2D map filled with terrain for their minis game that relies on 3D terrain for LOS, cover, and so on? And why are they still only doing 3x3 mats? $80 is excessive for one playing surface...so much I don’t understand.

I did. That's a good start but they need things like buildings and foliage to go on sale before the mats.
