not sure what that means.....

Well, that's somewhat disappointing, especially since I am one of those strange souls who doesn't actually *care* about Legion at all

Before I had a simple disinterest In the game as it doesn’t appeal to me. Now I have an active dislike of it.

Before, I thought about picking up a few things to try and integrate them with IA. I won’t be dropping a dime on it now.

Why do you dislike it

At this point it’s hype backlash. I’m tired of hearing about it. I know they’re trying to drive up sales before release, but it’s getting old. Add to that they said yesterday that it will be getting monthly support, while the games I actually like barely get 1 or 2 a year.

Armada has always been a red-headed stepchild. Legion is started to sound like a spoiled brat.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems as though FFG made the minis for Legion a different scale to those for IA in order to prevent any crossover.

They are. There were a few like the AT-RT and speeder bike that aren’t in IA, that could be fudged. The scales are close enough that they could fit, and I’m sure that it wouldn’t be to hard to make some IA stats for them.

In my opinion, they're reacting to how badly they flubbed Runewars. Maybe the pendulum swung too far the other way, but in another 6 months you won't hear nearly as much about it.

Besides, I prefer the slow burn that Armada has.

The slow burn isn’t terrible... as long as it’s consistent. We were getting GAMA / GENCON announcements, which were nice because we knew when to get excited. It helped maintain momentum. Any time anyone got nervous, you could say, “calm down, wait for the big shows.”

Now, not so much.

Armada is more of a slow, glacial roll, isn't it? :P

Maybe with literal dimensions Legion is slightly bigger but both subjects are infantry battle combat. Armada isn't simply X-Wing on epic mode, which would be the equivalent.

I'm indecisive on Legion myself. It would be a thing if they killed off IA for legion, since between the two I'd like Legion, but I've already invested money into IA... so that's my SW ground battle game of choice.

Just get on the hype train and leave Armada behind!

But yea, I get it. Legion forums have been **** ever since articles were dropping left and right. Plus people who can't read the **** rules and are messing things up.

We weren’t so different, many years ago ?

... except for the scale of the experience

Yeah, they did, and in the opposite direction they should have. They made them larger for some ridiculous reason. If they had gone in the opposite direction, and made them 1/270 scale to match X-wing, I would have bought into both!

Um. That would put the infantry as similar size to Risk board game pieces.

Sweet. Then you could have reasonable sized AT-ATs, Juggernaut tanks, mix air speeders with fighters from X-Wing. Dang... I really want that game.

Traditional wargamers use miniatures that size all the time. Because we do, we are able to recreate Waterloo, Gettysburg, Yorktown, the Alamo and a thousand other massive battle that would be otherwise impossible with bigger scales.

In fact, naval wargamers use 1/6000 ships so as to be able to recreate Jutland, Dogger Bank and massive fictional, truly Armada scale battles that larger scales cant replicate.

Reasonable is a misnomer there.

its basically a 6mm game at that point.

Which is a pain to paint, and really only favours absolutely masses ranked battles... fir all it’s apparent fans, Epic Armageddon was never that popular. For model and rules scale reasons.

for one, it basically reduces infantry to irrelevancy, and focuses on “support” elements.

and to make the game worthwhile - a LOT of them.

It's also a genre that is infamously difficult to enter.

Reasonable from a cost perspective. An AT-AT in IA or Legion would cost at least $100. In a 6mm game it would easily be a fraction of that.

Sure.

but now you need 20 of them

i mean we already know how much an X. Wing or snowsoeeder would cost on 1/270.

In what way? (Not being argumentative, genuinely don’t know much about it.)

That would get pricey... but that would be epic.
