Just like in X-Wing game...will there be ACE packets with "same" available packets but with another twist in cards und miniature profiles? Would be fun to have a few more unique cards and pilots for the heavy vehicles... ...vielen danke...
"ACE" Booster Packets
I doubt we'll get Ace packs (in X-Wing those packs are very specifically designed to "fix" or expand on ships which should have had more pilots or specific upgrades and ability but didn't). Pilots will naturally filter out as vehicles come out. Given there's some flexibility in the Personnel and Heavy Weapons upgrades we might see additional minis packs which are compatible with old units (or possibly even generic) but I don't think Legion is designed to go "Stormtroopers II: More Stormtroopers". It's not even like the Chimera expansion in Armada (which is a different sculpt and new variations on the ISD) because I don't think the underlying unit cards would change.
But who knows. I'll let other people answer if they think they'd buy another Stormtrooper pack if it had like, all new poses and upgrades but the actual stormtroopers are fundamentally the same.
I personally would love to see future sets such as stormtroopers with different poses because in addition to the hobby aspect, I want stormtroopers/rebel soldier to be the backbone of each faction so that the game keeps that "star wars" feel. Sometimes X wing doesn't look like Star Wars at all with all the EU ships.
If power creep ever becomes a thing in Legion, I hope that they will update and keep the classic units competitive throughout the game's history. If that means updating or creating "elite/ace" troops, then I'm all for it.
Edited by JBarOn a similar note, I also wonder if we will have upgrades of commanders down the line. I would love to see a "Luke Skywalker Jedi Master" in his black robes with a points cost and ability on par with Vader.
That I would not necessarily be surprised by, though I expect them to probably release other characters first before re-releasing Luke, but they could easily do RotJ Luke at a different point cost with different abilities since the unique dot rule means you can't have another instance of Luke in the game. While not a mini also wouldn't be surprised if there was a Pilot Luke card either, to the original point. Maybe his ability would be to tap to ignore Armor for a turn.
Also, I do know some members of the greater community would be ecstatic if in a couple years the Imperial "Meta" was like, Trioculus and Rom Mohc commanders running Swamptroopers with Flechette Launchers and Imperial Repeaters and TIE Crawlers. Even if FFG doesn't go full EU, I hope they take EU cues when thinking about new units and their possible heavy weapon options. At some point you have to bust out your Assault Gunboat - whatever form that takes.
...very interesting....viele danke on the topic....
Similarly, there are a lot from characters from Star Wars who I don't see as "commanders" such as C3P0, some characters from Rogue One, etc. I wonder if they will be used as elite units or if they can be attached to squads or leaders.
Imperial Officers, as an expansions to put into storm trooper units instead of the extra trooper.
omg a K2S0 that has armor and like 6 hitpoints ![]()
Also, I could honestly see them adding "hero unit" packs. Mostly for unique named persons who don't really need to be added as a commander. For instance, Jyn Erso upgrade pack for rebel commandos, where shes a unique upgrade card for regular commandos and her pack comes with 2x commandos and her mini. The pack might also come with like a guardian-esque upgrade card to make the commandos more powerful or helpful to Jyn.
Or like Finn. I really do not see them adding Finn as a commander but he could definitely fit into an upgraded rebel troopers pack or even if you want to get spicy a TFA stormtroopers pack. (I would love this, paint the red hand on him and everything).
