New Player looking for Constructed Advice

By AT Leader, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hello Everyone!

I just recently started playing Destiny, sealed league in my store, and am looking to put together one or two constructed decks from the Two-Player Game and Legacies (in order to reduce loss when the rotation happens).

what advice to you have for me going forward looking to build a constructed deck under those parameters?

Thanks in advance!

There's really no way to give advice without some idea of what you want to play, and what you have access to. If you can provide that, people can probably give you something constructive.

Fair.

I am working up to two copies of the 2PG, Luke, and Boba Starters, currently. I have some cards from my Limited League (I’ll have to edit them in later as I don’t have them with me).

Primarily I was looking for advice on what was good out of Legacies so I could start picking up singles to put together a reasonable deck that will at least give me a chance to try to outplay my opponents in local tournaments.

I have a pretty good relationship with most of my locals so i can probably borrow some for the time being to try out different characters.

TL; DR: New player trying to build a budget constructed deck that would survive rotation. What are the ‘must have’ commons and uncommons from Legacies; and what characters have proven they are more powerful in constructed.

I personally play budget too, Poe (more than etc) and Aayla with profitable connections. Only expensive cards in there is the hand crafted lightbow I bought when they were $5.

Youll want to dip into older sets for cheap and incredible mitigation (guard, force misdirection, field medic, and especially overconfidence) plus Force Training which I actually really like. I also use Docking Bay battlefield to cycle Honorguards, which has worked out incredibly well.

None of these cards are above $0.50, except maybe force training which was $1.50 (and It Binds All Things if you feel like investing in it, otherwise just use Logistics)

In legacies, Heirloom lightsaber from the Luke starter is still pretty incredible though, and a decentish replacement for Handcrafted. It has no pay sides or modifiers, so feel to dump it on even nonmelee characters

Lastly, you'll want to look into Hidden Motive (rivals) which basically goes in every blue deck imo

Alternatively, Luke + Poe could be good if you can't get Aayla (just put in more guns because Luke has two ranged sides, ESPECIALLY hidden blaster and the e-11) since she's like $10 with two dice.

Personally got mine from people giving away their tournie prizes because they already had every nonlegendary

From memory, my deck is something like

Poe, Aayla, profitable, docking bay

Handcrafted (can be Heirloom), lightsaber (not sure what you'd replace it with), Rey's lightsaber, Poe's Blaster, force training, fearlessness

Honorguard, field medic, overconfidence, guard, hidden motive, force misdirection, spirit of Rebellion (so clutch!), Sound the alarm

It binds all things (logistics)

[2 of everything]

If Luke + poe, replace lightsaber with e-11 and fearlessness with hidden blasters. Heirloom is still great here

P.s: Poe is a goddamn monster who can pair well with almost anyone he's allowed to pair with

@ficklegreendice Good to see you give good advice here as well as X-Wing!

I will likley give Poe+Aayla a try! I happen to have an Aayla already (pulled in the sealed league I am in) and I am sure my locals will let me borrow a die and a couple things for a tournament.

^ What he said. Poe is stupid OP and pairs great with everything, especially Aayla.

Phasma is also fun, probably does well with Boba

Ren is incredible but seems to pair better with more expensive cards + mother tal

Rey is...bleh

My suggestion is to pick up a rivals pack and start playing sealed and draft wherever you can, but instead of drafting to win, draft for legendary cards. After you have built up a good collection, you will know what you need, and you will have a blast building your collection, too, since you will also be playing in a bunch of draft games
