Online Database and Deck Builder

By grimdonkey, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hello everybody,

I have made a website a while ago to help with organizing Magic the Gathering and World of Warcraft card collections. I have now also added Warhammer: Invasion support. It has a full card database (up to The Deathmaster's Dance), and also deckbuilding and trading tools (including a sample hand generator).

One thing that is missing is card images (I only have card images for the core set), but I'm working on finding or scanning the rest of the cards as well, so that we have nice card tooltips for everything.

Without further ado... the website is http://deckbox.org . You can access the filterable, searchable and sortable card database here: http://deckbox.org/games/whi/cards , and you can see how a deck looks here: http://deckbox.org/sets/2489 (the deck is actually crowdedmind's idea, from these forums :) ).

Update 14.04: Updated database with the Arcane Fire cards as spoiled by Wytefang.

Great site, have already started adding decks :D My only minor gripe is that it takes a while to set your inventory to having 3x everything without manually entering each card at 3x, because as this is a living card game its likely that most people have 3 of every card. But apart from that I can't praise it enough, hopefully we can fill it with plenty of awesome decks :D

Locks good.

It is possible to write some description to the decks?

Thanks for the praise :) . I think you might be right about the card counts. I hesitated setting the default count to 3 as I thought it would be confusing for people who also play other CCG games (as there 1 makes sense as the default). I'll give it a bit of thought, maybe it would be best to set it to 3.

Sure, there is a Notes section at the bottom of a deck's page. You can edit that and enter a description there. The section is text - only right now, but I plan to make it rich-text in the near future, so we can have headings, paragraphs and smileys :)

Just checking back to say that thanks to our users, we now have card tooltips and images for all released cards! Yay! happy.gif

Hey, I've been playing Magic the Gathering for a while and I just started playing Warhammer Invasion too. I found deckbox.org a life saver when it comes to browsing the card databases for both games (and stealing other people's deck ideas :P ).

great work!

Wonderful!!! Great thing...

Singed in and builded already! :)

(I'm Nephandus, there).

I set up an account and the site looks great but I have to echo a request for being able to add battle packs/expansions at the click of a button. The fortunate thing is that this functionality could be useful for other games like magic as they could be used to add the contents of preconstructed and premium decks as well. Great work on the site though!

Thanks for your kind words!

As for your request, it is done :) . Now, in your inventory add cards widget there is an option to add a full expansion at the click of a button.

Happy deckbuilding! :)

Another happy user. This is a great resource for WH: I players, highly recommended. You can build and modify decks on the fly seeing the cards you're using. All round excellent addition to the community.

Thank for the efford. It's my favorite WHI database site and now the only negative aspect is eliminated.

Hope to see the expansion cards soon :)

I cant work out how to build a deck :(

Is it because of my browser?

Hey, I'm glad my scans were useful for you gran_risa.gif

Very probably, it works fine for me on IE8, Chrome and Firefox, but with the older version of IE7 that I have at work it seems to have problems.

Nice database. gui%C3%B1o.gif Maybe you could add AGoT LCG cards? It would be fine. gui%C3%B1o.gif happy.gif

elooooooi, much appreciated! gran_risa.gif

As for AGoT LCG, there's a bit of work in order to enable that, but it's been duly noted as a feature request. Hope I get to it soon happy.gif

Yep, there were some issues with old Internet Explorer versions, and you were not able to see the 'Decks' section, and the 2 buttons near it (for New Folder and New Deck respectively). They should now be fixed. There are, however various other display / functionality problems in these old browsers sad.gif The fact is they are old and problematic, and if it is at all possible, I strongly encourage you to upgrade to a newer / more capable browser. Sorry for the earlier problems, and thanks for your feedback!

As a fellow web developer, I highly encourage you to post browser upgrade notices for old versions on IE. You will make the world a much better place for all of us ;) What technology is the site built on? I am guessing it is a unix server since you have an php powered forum, but the interactivity of the site makes me think rails or a very good attention to detail on the front end that most php developers don't bother to take.

Great job adding the set support. It took me a little while to find it but I am very glad that you have added support for it! I see myself using this very much in the near future!

Does the website require Adobe Flash plugins in order to view the cards? I am considering the purchase of an iPad and I know that Apple is not supporting Flash viewing from the device. I would be very stoked if I could view cards/deckbuild when I am out and about.

Dont buy an iPad. You can get better Pads with a real OS (Windows or some GNU/Linux ones) and so support for infinite software.

Thanks for the thought Jogo but to avoid triggering an Apple vs Not-Apple flame war, l want to keep my question limited to will deckbox.org be fully functional if viewed on an iPad.

Will it be updated with the mighty Dark Elves? :)

Berserko, you nailed it! It's Rails indeed happy.gif As for the browser upgrade notices... I've made them since day 1.

RexGator: there is no plugin required, Flash, or anything else, so it will work just the same on any fully functional browser (I assume the iPad packs Safari, so no problem there!)

DB_Cooper: I was just now returning to the forum to post the news: The mighty Dark Elves are already in, as of 2 hours ago. gui%C3%B1o.gif Assault of Ulthuan is imported (without tooltips for now, as I do not have the images).

You're THE man. :)

Just to let you know...High Elf's SHADOW WARRIOR is missing. :)
