Minefields Question

By eliteone, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi all, quick question about the blue Minefields Objective:

how many can trigger per round? I played it for the first time last night and my opponents VSD chugged right into three of them strategically moved by my VCXs. We played it as only one can proc per round, per ship, at distance 1 of the objective token.

He did wind up eating all three, eventually, but was wondering if we played it right.

Thanks!

It doesn't say anything about limiting them to one mine explosion per ship moving so I think they would all explode. [Thinks of possible uses for a Rieekan commanded cheap flotilla and a VCX to clear mines. It gives away fewer points than one turn of Contested Outpost.]

As @Mad Cat said, all the mines at distance 1 of a ship explode, doesn't matter how many there are. The explanation is that the wording on the objective begins with "if a ship ends its movement...". As it doesn't use the words "when", "while", etc. which are stated in the RRG that can only be resolved once during the instance, in this case all can explode with a single trigger

  • ship ends movement
  • check distance 1, see how many mines there are
  • all mines explode, worked out singularly

So if one mine is enough to kill the ship it doesn't matter they all go off / removed from the table.

Nice, thanks for the replies all.

It would have made a big difference taking that VSD off the board a round or two earlier!

How Does FCT timing interact with Minefields?

This card’s Special Rule effect resolves during the Move Ship step while executing a maneuver.

FCTs is an "After you execute a maneuver" thing. So you resolve the Minefields and then do FCTs. Minefields happens as part of the maneuver, FCTs (and most other maneuver things, such as obstacle effects other than Damaged Controls) happen after the maneuver.
