Star Wars: Live Action for all you beautiful babies

Of all the possible show-runners, I'm not really sure this is the one I would have picked.

He's...fine. But definitely leans heavily towards more comedic aspects of things. And basically everything he touches has an...oddly 'designed by committee' sort of feel to it. Very like JJ Abrams, really. Which, well...I guess that checks out.

Now, if you'd told me it was Ronald D Moore or J. Michael Straczynski, THEN I would be legit excited...even if, in the case of the latter, well aware that it means the thing is doomed to be cancelled before it can be finished.

I think Ronald Moore wrote a few scripts for the Underworld live action show Lucas was working on before selling lucasfilm. They actually had 2-3 seasons of episodes written I believe, were just waiting on the the SFX costs to go down to keep with their vision.

I'm still hoping this new live action show is the one Lucas started, but it's not looking that way.

But will this be the show that Star Wars Resistance was bought for?

They lost me at "direct-to-consumer platform"!

Didn't Jabba have those installed on his Sand Skiffs?

Huh, Iron Man, eh? Okay. I'm on board.

Which, in my youth, was known as a "television."

Yep. I remember turning the dial that rotated the antenna on the roof so we could pick up other stations. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple anymore.....and won’t be free.

Oh, a fancy antenna knob. Rabbit ears and tin foil not good enough for you? Or making younger siblings hold the the antenna and walk around until you could get more than one channel. Of the three possible ones, and pbs if you were in a college town.

Yep. And the children were the remote control. "Jimmy, get up and change the channel to 5."

Ah, youth.

Oh, god, that half-a-ship a month is gonna break me. I’ll have to survive with only 3.5 Naboo Starfighters!

I'm pretty sure disney already announced, or it was rumored, that the Disney streaming service was going to be the home of the next animated show and a live action show.

Yeah. I just love how companies remember not everyone in the USA has good internet providers. [Way too much sarcasm]

I live in rural Ga, so I guess I can’t watch a show from a series I love. Thanks Disney.

Don't worry. When net neutrality ends in a couple months, only the rich will get good service.

We lived so far out in the boonies that we had to put our rabbit ears on top of a 40’ telephone pole. The fancy knob came along after I, the only child, got tired of climbing the pole.

And I’m with Raptor, not all of us can get internet that can handle streaming. Plus, I already pay to have Disney via satellite.

I remember our TV dial "clicking" when I was a kid; only having a few local channels, and having to flip a switch on the back to play Atari 2600. Also, playing Zelda on an old B&W and being SO CLOSE to beating it and mom yelling to turn it off because there wasn't enough power for the hotplate.

Back to the OP; he's a competent creative who loves his material so I'm excited to see what happens, but it's not the end of SW if it isn't great. As my friend is fond of pointing out; we live in a time where we are getting a new Star Wars movie every year (who would have ever thought it possible?) in addition to tons of new SW content in the form of shows and animated series, so there are bound to be some misses. Personally I'm one of those jerks who hasn't been disappointed yet; love Rebels, R1, TFA, and TLJ so for me, so far so good.

You are not the only one who hasn't been disappointed. The novels and comics have also been top notch.

Heck, Claudia Grey had been doing such a great job, I would find it fitting if she was the one to officially write the ending to Leia’s story.
