But for real, you know what focused 8-cost rebel figure can one-shot an ERiot with no command card help?

Introducing again:

When Verena declares Close Quarters, she can use her adjacent target's die pool and attack type. If Verena's focused, she gets a green, and she can "borrow" the ERiot's RB die pool. And with a few different "perfect" rolls, she can one-shot a single-block ERiot who adds a block from a token:

One Example: Defense Roll of Block (+block token)
Red: damage, damage, surge
Blue: damage, surge
Green: damage, damage
Spend Surges for +2 damage and Fighting Knife: Roll a Red against up to 2 blocks or an evade: damage, damage, damage (+1 from Fighting Knife)

Totals 9 damage against two blocks.

Sure, it doesn't work when you add Zillo in, but with help from Hera, a damage token from Ko-Tun or Prepared for Battle, or even the free surge from her own command card, Master Operative, Verena can do it!

Meanwhile, you've got a spy for Intelligence Leak, and a brawler almost as tanky as Obi-Wan.

Speaking of Vader, ever wanted to swing his lightsaber into his own knee? A focused Verena has a 50% chance of dealing 6 damage to Darth Vader on dice. He'll get some help from re-rolls and Zillo, but Verena can use the surges from Vader's yellow die fairly well if only to tap Zillo. And she's one of the few rebel uniques that can reliably take a hit from the guy without dropping. Alas, she doesn't get Vader's surge pool or built in +1 from Driven by Hate.

Add in the brawler-friendly meta with new command cards and the Mos Eisley Back Alleys map, and you've got a real contender here for those last 8 points you need to spend.

Jedi Luke for Brawler synergy, Leia for Spy synergy, maybe bring Mak or Loku as a 3rd spy and long-shot company for Leia? RCP+ gets you to 40 points with a squirrelly build that may be able to reliably threaten Vader.

I am loving this series. Verena and Fenn were the reasons why I started tinkering with skirmish fixes and diving deep into the mechanics of figure and game design.

One of the lists that I want to try involves Verena working with Mercs:

• Jawa Scavenger [Elite] [3]
• C-3P0 [2]
• Temporary Alliance (M) [1]

Load up on Hunter, Brawler and movement cards, and Intelligence Leak. Shyla, Onar and Verena work together hunting down the hardest-hitting figure in your opponent's army, while focused Weequay Pirates snipe from afar.

You could make a more Spy oriented list by dropping Onar (OR Jawa/C-3P0 & one of Black Market/Devious Scheme) and picking up an elite Clawdite. Giving Verena and Shyla a block token at the start of the game would help them survive into the 3rd round.

You could make a more melee & Brawler-oriented list by dropping Onar & one of Black Market/Devious Scheme and picking up Maul. Then you can pick up cards like Pummel & Parting Blow.

No word of a lie, I was just looking at my Verena figure mere minutes ago and thinking "I really like this paint job, I think for my next casual tournament I'm going to try to work her in somehow"

After getting destroyed by riots in the NC regionals today, been thinking about this all afternoon. Obi wan seems like a legit counter to the riots. Nullifies their objective control and pierce can eat through their block tokens. Healthy attack pool, defense, health, and a benefit on death.
