Hot Lists on TTS
Core Set Rebels: Luke/ATRT x3/Rebel Troopers x5
I don't plan on playing Imperials but from what I can tell, general consensus on core set is: Vader/Speederbike x2/Stormtroopers x5

Really, no AtSt? Id figure aa points denial and 2+ suppressive tokens an activation or killing half a squad they'd at least get a look

Its a point sink compared to 2 speeder bike units. For example:
1 ATST w/ Grenade Launcher is 210 points, can fire at two separate units in one activation, and produces cumulative 2 red/4 black/2 white dice with those attacks. It has 11 total health.
2 Speederbike Units are 180 pints, can fire at two separate units in two activations, and produces a cumulative 4 red/4 black/4 white dice with those attacks. They have 12 total health.
Its obviously a little bit more nuanced than that^ but the bikes have more total health, produce more total damage, and cost less points. In the end it really depends on play style and I wouldnt say the ATST is unplayable by any stretch of the imagination in a competitive format. I think that Veers' release will make it more appealing but right now Vader is your only choice for the commander slot and he's REALLY expensive.
Another thing is speeder bikes could be harder to use effectively due to their compulsory move, and it's important you're able to even bring your weapons to bear. The AT-ST as a centerpoint might be more forgiving to new players IMO. Vader, an ATST with 2 weapons, and 4-5 stormtrooper squads is probably what I will do. An alternate would be something similar with 2 speeder bike units instead, but I think I will prefer the handling on an AT-ST over the bikes...just my preference.
It will be super cool to conduct land battles in the Star Wars universe starting this month, but a bit frustrating because the game will be a neonate for a few months and then an infant until 2019. I expect this will be quite a ride, but with less burping and diaper changes than the last time I raised a baby. ?

Speeder bikes still have the 2 black 360 degree attack, plus surge conversion both ways.
Once again, the atst is tactically useful, but when combined with vader the overall list bang for points just isn't there yet
Is that from experience playing or theory crafting.
While the Atst does seem to lack some oomph on paper it has other advantages with long ranged guns and being tough. Im keen to get it working though.
Yet with the base gun, 2R, 2B, 2W the Atst isn't setting the world on fire.
I think it needs the extra blaster to give it some oomph as the other guns only really add effects or are limited by their range restrictions.
This is.theory but Armor and ignoring 3/4 or 7/8 of the dice faces seems pretty good esp when the atst has range 4 and move back and everything else has range 3
Activations has benefits but you begin to lose efficiency when you take 3 wounds on speederbikes
Edited by buckero0Interesting list...I hope the addition of Veers will open things up. I'm curious what more specialist units will do, If we'll get a bump to 1,000 points by wave 2.
