Best 34 points against a tie swarm?

By Jturn314, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm in an escalation league with a rebel list, and I have 34 points to add for my next matchup. I know my opponent has an 8+ tie swarm, along with Vader. Anyone have any ideas as to what could efficiently soften the swarm up so my Poe and Miranda can clean up/ take care of Vader?

Here's my current idea-

B/SF-17- Crimson Specialist

Trajectory Simulator

Thermal Detonators

Ordnance Silos

Hyperwave Comm Scanner

Thanks for any ideas.

Any harpoon missiles? A couple of headhunters would be pretty good. To be honest though Miranda should have zero issues. Heff Tober with Boshek crew (and maybe Sabine if she’s not on Miranda?, or Jyn Erso otherwise) and EU if you have enough points is going to ruin any hope of formation flying.

Miranda currently has sabine, tlt, bomblets, clusters, harpoons, and extras. So I’m sure she’ll do fine against the swarm, I’m just looking for something that I can throw in there at the start that will really soften them up. That’s why I’m thinking crimson specialist: with decent flying, he can throw two bombs at the swarm on approach, then should be able to just ram in to screw the formation and drop his last two bombs anywhere around him that’ll hurt the most. Completely willing to trade a few ties and some splash for the bomber to clean things up for the rest of the squadron.

If you're facing an 8 ship TIE swarm, you do not need the PS advantage because they'll have multiple PS1 elements. That means Hyperwave Comm Scanner is a bit redundant.

By comparison, if using the BS/F-17 as a crowd control bomber, and using Crimson Specialist's 'danger close' ability, I really, really recommend Deflective Plating!

Yeah I was already thinking about which one is better there. Even if he does out PS my bomber, I can just set it up in a central area and then be able to go any direction with it towards wherever he sets up.

I would ditch the scanner for Sensor Cluster (really boosts defense). Otherwise, I think it is a nice ram against a TIE swarm, and, frankly, is just good in general
