unique objectives idea

By boogle22, in Star Wars: Legion

I watched a few games, and felt the objectives did not have much meaning other than for scoring. I am making an Endor board, which will also be a Yavin and Kashyyyk board (they all have a forest quality). The objectives should be important areas on the board from the movies of the video games not just randomly placed in the middle of the table. For instance, Endor's bunker will have a(n) objective(s) near it. I will be making multiple set pieces for the same planet (i.e. ewok village and imperial landing platform for Endor). In this way, the skirmishes will feel slightly different and maybe more important than just placing objectives randomly. What set pieces are you planning to make? I am in the process of planning the temple for Yavin.

Im probably going to snag a few 1/48 scale kits (snowspeeder, atst, xwing etc) and build destroyed terrain pieces from them. I know a few others mentioned this too. I also have a Kenner AT AT that I've seen used in a few other endor tables... still not sure if ill destroy it for a center piece quite yet. I want to make a trench type battle table but we will see.. I'm more inclined to make a table at our local store with my buddies for everyone to use so we will all probably pitch in time and materials (also a great alternative to only gaming, terrain night hype!!)

To be honest, speaking from 40k experience and alot of kill team / Armageddon games people tend to place objectives on cool looking terrain pieces anyway. Could just be my gaming group but im guessing it's a subliminal thing. You'll always run into people who place stuff to favor themselves especially in tournaments but dems we rulez.. lol.

Winning is often fun. But those with a cool beans attitude will almost always have fun, win or lose.

One should always try to win--without cheating--in a tournament. Plenty of sleep. Stay hydrated. Moves that favor you. Etc.

Use crates, antennas, small computers, injured soldier, civilians... small pieces or big pieces like oddeye mention to represent the objetives. Probably I will go with small pieces, just to represent something but something as small that I will have no problems on tournaments.

I bought some IA probe droids to cut up and turn into wrecks. I think I still have some crates and barrels from some Bolt Action Objective pieces I made, which could also work.

I kind of want to print off some of these SW: Battlefront 2 Loot Crates and put them on small bases and using them as objective tokens.

It'd be kinda cool to do a campaign in which both players start with barebones units. As the players capture these objectives during games they get access to randomized upgrade cards to use on their units later in the campaign. Obligatory EA dig: And if you give your opponent $5 you can get a loot crate without actually having to capture any objectives or play the game

A lot of you want to make wrecked terrain. You may be able to use some of the star wars action fleet line that was around in the 90s.

i just thought that every board should have multiple "bases" or special areas because when the developers make a campaign you don't want to just have one base.

Apparently developers listened to this thread regarding the objectives package.
