Back at the release of the Corellian Conflict squadron pilots I was definitely a pro Rebel player. I liked their playstyle and much preferred their squads e.g. what Biggs did for X-wings, and Ten Numb are great examples.

However, at Wave 7, I've wholly switched over to the Empire as a faction of choice.

And here's why:

1. What Sloane has done for non-rogue Imp squads. Their squads were already awesome at anti-squad duty, and now they're great at helping to take out ships. The only way the rebels can realistically complete here is to take the very risky Yavaris. I really hope there's something coming soon (in wave 8) that can offer the rebels an interesting alternative that isn't quite so glass cannon.

2. What the new upgrades have done for large ships, and especially the ISD with its new variety of choices. At the moment, I just think Empire ships offer more opportunity to experiment and specialise. In contrast, Rebel ships tend to be a little more one dimensional. CR-90 - TRCs, Neb B - Yavaris, Hammerheads - External racks (i'd have loved it if these guys were better at boarding troopers/ engineers).

3. The re-invigoration of the VSD via disposable capacitors and Moff JJ.

Its a hard question, I really enjoy playing both but this is the first time I have discovered a list that works for me, I mean really works for me.

Thats a Tarkin/Soveriegn/Cymoon list. I generally don't like brawlers, or maybe they don't like me but Demo and ISD 1 lists were never my thing. For my play style the Cymoon is a brutally strong ship, it has rapidly become my favorite ship in the game even though it lacks a native Defensive Retrofit slot.

I have played with the MC75 and Raddus as well and those lists have been extremely fun to play. Twist my arm though, if there was a tournament this weekend and I had to pick one list...

Empire.

I have always served the Emperor and the Empire at tournaments.

Rebels.

Always.

See I'm more selfish, I tend to jump around based on what I think is the most powerful at the time, I'll happily play with either but at comps through all of wave 6 I stayed with Imps...

Honestly though I can't tell which I'll settle on at the moment. Wave 7 has made my already awesome Avenger build more awesome and introduced some cool stuff like Cymoon/Arc/Arc Vader builds which have soooo much firepower.

I don't see myself going back to swarms of little ships or making Demo my main hitter in any lists anytime soon BUT

I love me some MC75... both versions are brilliant, cheap or expensive is brilliant, it's the ship I've been wanting for Rebels since my whale first got introduced to BT Avenger... So I find myself building all sorts new rebel builds and refining my old ones. It's the first time in a long while I've seriously considered swinging back the other way.

In my heart, I was an imperial player always, but in the last 1-1,5 years I took rebel fleets to tourneys, simply because they seemed stronger and more viable to me. W7 shook up the meta quite a bit, seemingly imps having the upper hand now, so its imps for me. But Im the scum who flies whatever I think has best potential.

I play both. But I was running Rebels for a bit before 7 released. I think I've been playing more Imperial lists lately however.

If a new wave is enough to make you switch sides, you are a traitor!
