Help! broken mini....

By deeman1979, in X-Wing

So, yesterday I snapped the peg off of one of my ships for the second time. This happened once before and I successfully fixed it with Gorilla super glue gel. This time, no matter how long I leave it, it simply will not bond.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Magnets

and a drill.

Have you cleaned out the glue Residue? Also, green stuff is good.

When they break is when they get magnetized in my fleet.

Drill a shallow hole into the model (equal in diameter to the peg) for the peg to nestle into. Even just a couple of mm will give the glue more to hold onto than a flat surface.

Need to scrape off the old glue, make the surface a bit rough so the new glue has something to 'bite" onto. it helps to wipe the surfaces with a little rubbing alcohol and letting it dry before applying the new glue.

Yeah, the glue doesn't like to stick to old glue residue. Scrape it out and start anew.

Duct tape.

This. Had to do it on an A-Wing and a TIE/FO, and worked flawlessly. Just measure twice and drill slowly.

Duro brand super glue is my god send. I've used many many glues and once I found this one, its my one and only for 8 years going. Also, for fine scale minis... NEVER use Gel type glues

Ouchie! I would think wookiees would fear duct tape like cats fear the water.

Guys, thanks for all the useful advice, as well as some of the more amusing suggestions ?. I went with drilling a hole in the model the same size as the peg and then gluing. Worked perfectly!

Have you seen the engine compartment on the falcon?

I use Bondic (available at amazon). It is not a glue - the resin wont cure if you cant hit it with the UV light. Since the bases are transparent, it works great and cures in about 8 seconds.

Exactly. Yet it still works. Sometimes.

Yeah, like the force. It’s got a light side, a dark side, and binds the galaxy together. Or at least junky old frieghters.
