A FLGS near me is planning on running a very crazy tournament soon. The rules are as follows:

A list is built as normal: 100/6 format. Then, you may exchange the pilot ability of that ship with the pilot ability of any other ship in the game with an equal pilot skill.

For example, you could put Poe in a TIE silencer (replacing Kylo), or Omega Leader in a Decimator with weapons engineer.

I'm thinking along the lines of the following at the moment:

Kavil (YT-2400) (54)
HLC
Outrider
Lone Wolf
Rey
Glitterstim

Sabine (VCX-100) (46)
Gunner
Intelligence Agent
FCS

Totalling 100 points.

"Dash" is now a 5-die turret, with most of his usual tricks. "Kanan" gets to boost or barrel roll after seeing your aces maneuver. I think it'll be pretty fun.

What are your thoughts on such a wacky tournament.

Inquisitor in a Deci.

Lorrir (replacing Leebo) in a YT-2400. Have fun.

Wedge in a Silencer.

Sabine in a TIE Defender

Heh, Palob in a Lancer.

Quickdraw in a T70 with R2D2.

Rexlar Brath on a Rebel Hwk with TLT and Moldy Crow. Now you have all the focuses you need to deal face up damage cards with a TLT.

For that matter, Kestal in a Scum Hwk. Again, bank those focuses. Now no one can ever defend themselves against your TLT.

Blount in anything that can take TLT.

Arvel in a Deci with Dauntless and Ion Projector

Just general better durability, the big base makes for a bigger range 1-2 bubble, and a waaaaaay better dial. Palob's already a nuisance, but this would mean he can't be swatted so easy.

Though, the combo isn't quite as good as I had first thought. He would be trading places with Scum Sabine, who doesn't have an EPT.

That build doesn't do damage under shields. It's good, but it's not unmistakably broken beyond repair.

Dutch, also in a B-wing (Potentially more use of Pilot ability with Fcs)

Redline in a gunboat... could be useful.

Tel on Yv-666... does this mean you could deploy the Z-95 and then revive your Yv-666?

Sadly, no. The wording on Tel means he's not actually destroyed. I remember this coming up when I thought about putting Dead Man's Switch on him, but was told it would only go off on his actual death.

Major Rhymer on a YT-24. Either have a HLC without the donut hole or a range 1-2 autoblaster.

Omega Ace in a Ghost with FCS, Finn, Rey sounds pretty insane. 5-6 crits a turn.

Marek Steele in a YT-2400 with Mangler Cannon would be nice. Or you could swap him with Major Vynder and have him in a Gunboat, which I hear is one of the ships he originally flew. You could swap Luke for Coran in a T-65 for the same reason.

Vader in a T-70, TIE/sf, YT-1300 or Jumpmaster would be my choice. Or just transferring T-65 pilots to their T-70 equivalents. (Imperial players could do the same but for TIE Fighters to TIE/fo's).

T-70's in particular makes me wonder if you can take PS9 and PS8 Poe in your list, just as long as one or both of them is swapped for a different pilot ability. Are you actually changing the pilots or just their abilities? This would also apply to Marek, Han, Chewbacca, Dalen Oberos and any other pilot that has more than one ship version. Also, where does that leave the crew? Could Rey (Crew) ride in my Falcon being piloted by Miranda (who has replaced Rey as the PS8 pilot)? Also, how nasty would a fat Miranda Falcon build be?

Interesting format, I just stop bothering counting the times I though of this pilot in this ship only to realize there is no pilot of matching skill in that ship. Darth Vader can't go into a TIE Defender

I guess I would try Wedge in YT-1300 (Han Solo) with C-3PO and gunner, and maybe Corran Horn as a wingman. I don't know if there is a better ship to put Corran on other than an E-wing.

Quick question do you have to follow faction? (I can see the Soontir fanboys dreaming of the Barron and his X-wing).

"Whisper" with Vickor Hel's ability would be annoying. Put Rebel captive on there too and the first person who tries to shoot you gets double stressed.

They keep their EPT presumably if the pilot they're swapping to has none.

Tel's ability plus good regen (swapping for norra probably).

Vader in most other PS9 ships, especially Silencer and a T70.

Ten Numb in a TIE Advanced.

Howlrunner in a decimator.

Pretty much any lambda upsilon u wing hwk or y wing elite pilot in pretty much anything else.

Swap Tel in for Hera ghost. Basically when you die you pop back up to 6 hull. Combine with R2-D2 crew for shield regen

There's gotta be something ludicrous you can do with brobots, too.

Swapping Roark Garnet's ability in for Oicunn's ability would really help out a TIE Phantom wing mate.

As far as Brobots go: swap one out for "Dark Curse"

Juno Eclipse's ability on Boba Fett

I think Dark Curse and Pure Sabacc on Brobots is going to top the charts for obnoxiousness. 5-die HLCs and anti-mod defense.

This is far from the nastiest list you could come up with, but I like it for the father and son pairing:

Darth Vader (YT1300) - Push the Limit, Luke Skywalker, Kanan Jarrus, Engine Upgrade, Millennium Falcon
Chewbacca (Auzituck Gunship) - Rage, Inspiring Recruit, C-3PO, Hull Upgrade

Total = 100pts

Omega Leader in pretty much anything else.

TIE/x7, TIE/Ad, anything that can take Fire Control System, etc etc etc.

It's a really interesting format concept, I've gotta say. Lets you go hog wild with silly nonsense that couldn't ever be legal.

It’s a game to play with beer and friends, not a tournament format I’d enjoy. Power creep is something that depresses me about the game and this is pure min/maxing. Probably very fun but not as a competetive format.
