Rebels Game

By SteveStew31, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So I am looking to buy one of the three core games, and hopefully Dawn of the Rebellion as I am a huge fanboy of Kanan, Ezra and the crew.

My questions is simple one. What in the opinion of those who have played multiple versions of the game (meaning Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion etc) which one is the best fit to duplicate something *like* the show. So a group of ragtag rebel cell vs. being part of the rebellion. I am thinking that would be Edge of the Empire but I wanted to get others opinions if it would make the most sense or does Age of Rebellion make the most sense.

I will probably have a jedi like character - but I will probably just hand wave the force stuff so that the characters have a generic force skill or two or something and whenever they do something jedi like use that as I have heard that it is hard and complex to replicate a jedi like Kanan.

Thanks in advance for your help in helping make a purchase decision.

Peace,

Steve

Honestly? The show is about as big a mash-up of all three lines as you could ask for.

Season one is most definitely an Edge of the Empire game, with a touch of Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny.

Seasons two and three are AoR with some dips into FaD and some visits by EotE.

Season four, so far, has been pretty FaD/AoR heavy (and with just 90 minutes left to go tonight, I don't see any reason to expect that to change).

It's pretty telling that Dawn of Rebellion, which leans heavily on Rebels material, is system "agnostic," rather than carrying the trade dress of any one of the lines.

So, which CRB to get (first) would depend heavily on which season's flavor you most want to replicate.

When I clicked on this thread title, I was expecting a drinking game based off of possible events in tonight's finale.

(Other than that, I agree with the above.)

AoR is designed to replicate a rebel cell fighting the Empire and working their way up from guerrilla nobodies to alliance big wigs. So that's probably the cornerstone you want.

That said the Show pulls from all three cores. So like AoR is the main thematic, but EotE options appear regularly and Kanan and Ezra's whole thing is FaD through and through.

It's actually not hard to replicate Jedi, especially someone like Kanan. If anything Kanan actually is pretty easy to build.

What you have heard about Jedi being difficult or impossible to build comes from the fact that force users are rather resource intensive combined with the high expectations people have for "Jedi." To make a Jedi you have to really look at what you want and need and work up.

Ifyou want to walk in ready to do a few Jedily things now, and more later, you'll be fine. If you want to start with all the force powers and the strength to juggle Correlian corvettes with your mind...not gonna happen.

Of course real force stuff will work better with FaD options.
