Petition For System Open Series in the Southeast ASIA

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing

I mean, what's one more Open in the US compared to the first big opportunity for a massive X-Wing event for the players on the other side of the world?

I vote Singapore, Hong Kong or Sydney.

Replied to the wrong thread.

I totally support any international series open. Here's the deal. You can sit here and say "we'll USA already gets some but there aren't any in (insert part of the world)."

I'm trying to be proactive and seeing if this helps us get representation. The USA is large and not all of us have the luxury to be able to travel to get to the current locations.

If this works, take it as a precedent that FFG OP does listen to their player base, and create your own petition for the place in the world in which you would like a tournament of this size to be represented.

Good luck to everyone that wishes a System Open in their neck of the woods!

Sydney or Melbourne would be pretty ace - they're both travel hubs, but being predominantly english-speaking would certainly simplify the running of the event.

(Which is to say, an awful lot more X-wing players in asian countries are likely to know english than vice versa. That's imperialism for you, I guess, but still handy.)

The main language of Singapore is English.

I vote for Tokyo!

PS: Since when is Aus a part of SE Asia? :P

I know you're heading for India, don't lie. ?

I'd love to see an open in either Sydney, Melbourne, or Singapore.

World-wide shouldn't mean only using 2/3 of the world.

Host events somewhere cheap so more people can afford to go and that way FFG can make a profit too.

I also think; after we get Asia their System which they deserve. We should deffo petition for the Worlds location to rotate, give everyone the same shot at cheap travel.

It's not, but Far East/ Australasia wouldn't have had the same effect in the subject line! :P

As much as I'd like one to happen over in Southeast Asia, there's no FFG SW support or distribution in that region... There's a good argument for one in OZ though.

Open in Asia - yes please !!!

I’m based in Hong Kong. Play Group here is very small, but it’s a reasonably central location for people to get to.

In the meantime, As a thought why doesn’t “the community” try to do something on its own. Might encourage more “official” FFG support in the area.

Its difficult to justify flights, time off / away from kids etc for a smaller event in SE Asia, but if a bigger “must go” event was organised with plenty of notice then I could definitely go (dates permitting).

Its almost as far to Oz as back to Europe from a lot of Asia (especially Southern end ignorance Oz) as such I would suggest an event / open in Oz would be a separate discussion

The X-Wing Malaysia and Singapore guys have great events... all without FFG official support.5ab4976aef3dd_blingring.thumb.jpg.9f06013eac3e25837b0e94f6d7a3df7a.jpg

At the current rate of immigration you will soon qualify for a SE Asia country. :P

Seriously now FFG needs to get X-Wing back in the Asia market. I cant believe the profit margin after acquiring the license for Asia to be that small to not worth it.
