You can only buy one Expansion

By KnightsofRen185, in Star Wars: Legion

Splitting two cores with a buddy of mine. I was curious if you were to only able to right now buy a single expansion for rebels or imperials which one would it be?

My gut instinct is to go for the the AT-ST and T-47 because you wouldn't be receiving either one of those in the core and would add depth to the game play. I know the FF way is to get all the expansions as I have learned with X-Wing and Imperial Assault to get some better upgrade cards or even pilots for that matter, but I do not really see that with this game other than a couple of cards.

I might go with a fifth squad of stormtroopers over the AT-ST, honestly. Vader+AT-ST leaves you with only about 350 points left after you give Vader Force Push/Force Reflex (If you're not taking advantage of Master of the Force, you're doing it wrong) and a gun or two on the AT-ST. You probably won't be able to fit either speeder bike unit in after that, leaving you with just four corps units. And I mean, that might be what you want, but the AT-ST is also twice the cost of a regular expansion anyway.

The T-47 on the other hand seems like a good add-on to double core sets. The cheaper rebel commander and support units give you more points to play with, and the T-47 is probably going to be happy with just Wedge (Who will probably be auto-include)

I don't see that in this game as much. Personally, unless you desperately want Impact grenades for all your troopers, I don't think any of the duplicate expansions help you here. AT-ST and T-47 for me until the Hoth wave, and outside of the commanders from Hoth, I'm not sure the troopers are worth it from that wave. You may just wait for the Special Forces wave after the summer or whenever it is

I think snowtroopers will find a home in imperial lists; Steady gives you superior mobility compared to Stormtroopers (Two speed one moves plus a free ranged attack will carry you farther than one speed two move and a ranyed attack) unless you need to take a double move. The fleet troopers... I think they'll depend on how much terrain your local metagame uses, and how close engagements happen as a result. Ready is probably the most situational of the corps units' keywords, but if most of your engagements happen at 12" or less, fleet troopers will have the best guns of any corps unit by a significant margin.

That's true if you can afford an AT- ST you can afford 2 other expansions. If I were in that situation I would buy it 1 stormtrooper and 1 speeder expansion. If your wife has just arbitrary restricted you to one other expansion regardless of cost I would see still get a speeder bike. Primarily because I'm most excited about running 3 speeders.

Your gut is right, AT-ST and T-47. The AT-ST fills out that 800 pt list easily as will a T-47. Also gives you the greatest variety of units to play with. Those lists may not be optimized right now, but a new wave is coming in a couple of months post launch, so what is an optimized list will change rather quickly, so having all the units gives you good flexibility for the future.

It seems what to buy first is two cores, the AT-ST and T-47.

Keep in mind if you are splitting up two cores between two people you'll what that dice pack.

Bro.. AT-ST.. you know you want to buy it!!

It'll be a nice change of pace in between painting up 28 stormtroopers and 4 speeder bikes..

I was going through a lot of the post and everyone was looking at buying impact grenades from another source, which is fine. I was looking at getting the rebel portions from the cores and of course Leia and the other troopers are still being manufactured, so it might be a little bit before the Hoth stuff is released.

This was the entire reason why I went with Rebels. At least they have the nice colors of brown and green opposed to white with black details. I learned my lesson from painting stormtroopers in imperial assault.

More than one if you are playing rebels, you'll want those stormies #extracrispy.

I don't see the difference, even suppression affects their range equally. The only way the snows get better is if they can get in range (IF) and move in and out of blocking terrain while shooting. But getting to the terrain or ou of the deployment zone is way harder when you can only move speed 1. Especially with so many suppressive causing attacks being introduced. The special weapons on the snowtroopers look worse as well.
