Lego Star Wars Legion - fan made adaptation

By Sciencius, in Star Wars: Legion

The adaptation of Star Wars Legion Miniatures Game (=this game) in to the Lego universe as a fan made miniatures game.

This is a project that I have been thinking about for some time, and I am getting more and more keen on. The idea actually came to me as I was thinking how easy it would be to build the landscape if everything was in Lego, but also from seeing these pictures.

Why is this a great idea:

1) I love the Lego brick (and I love SW).

2) The landscape is easy to build in Lego.

3) Lego has a close colaboration with Disney/Lucasarts on the SW franchise and already makes almost any characters, locations, vehicles and spaceships in Lego (the rest can be built in Lego by using your own imagination).

4) No f*cking PAINTING - which is why I will not be getting SW Legion anyways, and through this I now get to play anyhow... (and play with Legos).

What is needed is the fanmade-official play guide and faq:

1. Rules and game-tools adaptation (bases templates etc.)

2. which characters/vehicles are allowed in tournaments and how they should be built.

3. Optional: Official tournament landscape guide, as with Legos there is the option to make instructions for tournament-restricted landscape as well.

All this should be collected and placed on a dedicated website - free for use.

Sweet mother of god! This is sbsolutely brilliant!!!

I had this idea a while ago. I used my lego (of which i have a lot) to demo the game myself

It will be expensive.. Luckily I already have a ton since I buy my son lots of star wars legos.

Ironically I was teaching my son last year how to play table top war games using star wars legos. I just put 5 guys of the same type on a Lego platform x10 and split them up between us. Each guy has 1 hp, each 3+ on a d6 is a hit and a 5+ is an armor save. My son loved it, though we've since moved on to chess and trimmed down spacehulk. I totally forgot about it until I saw your post.. lol

To each their own. Personally, while I like Legos, just the look of them as a war game is very distracting to me. They are also expensive and I'd rather spend the money on official game models. That said, I totally understand that some people will not wish to paint models and happen to actually like the look of Legos in many different facets. So, kudos! Glad you are able to join two things you really like and enjoy. Have a blast with it!

On a related side note, several of my friends did this very thing about... oh.. 20 years ago using Legos for playing Warhammer Fantasy war games. I will admit that the look of Legos has definitely improved. They sited their reasoning that (even back then!) Warhammer models were more expensive than Legos. Hmm... guess some things never change. hehehe

These shots are from Lego Land California. It is really amazing when seen in real life too!

The only problem I encountered with this was dice. Its hard to find 8 sided dice of different colours where i am

Doesn’t deliver to the middle east

Very cool concept

Considering the number of comments over the last several month about the cost of the game, doing this via Lego .... whoa ...

If you are interested in Lego adaptations, I'm about to bring one to life.

Just to sum things up, I'm not really a Legion player. I've been collecting Clone Wars era Legos for about 15 years, but as years go on I feel I'm heading towards being the kind of dad that doesn't want his children to touch his Legos. Like in the Lego movie. And well, I don't want to be that kind of dad. So for some years I've been looking a board or Warhammer-like game thad had rules I could adapt for my Legos, to share these Legos with my kids and not leave them to rot in a showcase. I then found out there was a game called Star Wars : Legion with a Clone Wars expansion just about to launch !

Now I pick all CW expansions, keep the tokens, rules and cards and give my father the minis, since he's into dioramas, painting and all. So yeah, kind of the reverse process you'd expect. I'm testing the look of units, and plan to make a few scenarios based on films, once tanks, B2s and Phase 2 are out. I'll start with Geonosis and Kashyyyk.
