2018 Worlds article today says the winner gets to design a future card.
Basically, they wouldn't write that if there were no future cards left to be designed. I talk more about it in the video, but that's a big part of it. Thought I'd share!
IA is Alive!
Yeah the LCG world champion has a paragraph describing that since it's the last world champion they're going to do something special basically - designing a card that will come out on it's own in some way.
Imperial Assault is a competitively played game, like the LCG, and Descent isn't. Comparisons to Descent and "end of IA" just don't make much sense to me. I would imagine that if/when they finally decide to stop producing IA (at least skirmish-wise) they'll announce it similarly to LCG and have a final world championship supported event.
Can we stop doom and glooming on the boards finally?
Thrawn is on the Worlds prizes. In other games, the art reflects game elements.
Does this mean Thrawn is coming to IA? Or did they mix up IA and Armada?
thrawn is a key character in rebels tv show which is starting to feature heavily in IA. as such, Thrawn will be in IA in my opinion. Hope we get Kalus as an imperial though rather than turncoat rebel

I hope that if he gets put into the game that he is the first multifaction unit. or that they give him 2 different deployment cards for rebel/imp.

Actually, it'd be cool if there was an Agent Kallus card AND a Fulcrum card in the one set; afterall, each plays a different role on the battlefield (and with better character art than the one from X-Wing).
I was expecting Endor and ewooks but.... ok I understand is easier to connect with more people with Rebels characters.
Edit: Now if FFG remove the picture of the 40 points dial with Thrawn and Deathtroopers from worlds article we will know this is real

I'd like to see a 'Fulcrum'-card as a Rebel Skirmish Upgrade (art propably depicting a holograph of Ahsoka's white pattern on her brow) that can be attached to a unique character and yields some spy-related benefits.
We need some characters on Empire side, so many troops and no special characters.
Also some fix for Royal Guard Champion (and guards), Kayn Somos, Sorin, Weiss. We need some love to the Empire.
If we assume that the art on the dial is an unintentional spoiler, and Death Troopers are in fact coming, then the painters among us can celebrate a box wave that doesn't have even more white Stormtrooper armour to grind out.

Haven't been able to bring myself to get to them. Because of all that white armour I'll end up painting. So "yes", in the future tense I guess.

Don't have HotE, so no Riot Troopers yet, but I've just finished painting the Jet Troopers in white armour.
Over a black undercoat, no less.

I feel like the only person who likes painting stormtroopers here. For the most part they are simple and easy and relaxing, but there is still plenty of room for expression.
Now that I've caught up, they're nowhere near as daunting. Plus, I think Jets and Riots actually offer a ton of expression, like Mad says. And it's pretty crazy how much better my Riots look than my first wave of troopers painted.
So I don't mind having to paint four troopers a year- but I can see how painting 25ish could be incredibly intimidating.

After painting RGs, RGC, Palpatine and one set of Snowtroopers, I'm actually a bit more in peace with Stormtroopers and might try out the riot troopers (nice open stance). I think you are right. A few stormies at a time, then a pause painting other stuff may be the way to go.
