300 pts Imperial raider build

By Hellvomit, in X-Wing Epic Play

Hello every one

Some Friends and I have planned a 2vs2 epic game, with 300 pts per player. I'm playing Imperial and wondering what would be your built with an Imp Raider in it. My fellow wingman will fly the Gozanti, facing a Scum+Rebel with C-Roc and Rebel Transport as Epic on their side.

We've allowed proxy for all the upgrade cards, but not the for the pilots.

So far I have

Imp Raider

Gozanti

Lambda

Upsilon

Firespray

Decimator

1 Tie Phantom

1 Bomber (from Imp Vet)

2 Defenders (1 from Imp Vet)

1 Punisher

2 agressor

5 tie fighters

2 Tie/FO

3 Interceptors (2 from Imp ace)

2 Advanced

1 Ad. Prototype

1 Stiker

Thanks for the help

what role would you like it to play, sniper, close quarters, or missile, for sniping, I do this

Raider Fore (50)

Single turbolasers (8)

Sensor team (4)

Raider Aft (50)

Darth Vader (3)

Shield technician (1)

Optimized generators (5)

Single Turbolasers (8)

Single Turbolasers (8)

Instigator (4)

Total 141

its a big investment, but to thin it out I suggest dropping title, sensor team, and a single turbo to quad lasers for a total of 131.

for missiles I suggest this

Raider fore (50)

Harpoon Missiles (4)

Sensor Team (4)

Raider Aft (50)

Ordnance Experts (5)

Harpoon Missiles (4)

Weapons Engineer (3)

WED-15 Repair droid (3)

Impetuous (3)

Missile/torp to taste (4ish points)

Ordnance tubes (5)

Total 135

For Close Combat/fleet support, I suggest this

Raider Fore (50)

Quad Laser Cannons (6)

Raider Aft (50)

Operations Specialist (3)

Optimized generators (5)

WED-15 Repair Droid (3)

Quad Laser Cannons (6)

Quad Laser Cannons (6)

Total: 134

Also a TIE Bomber Expac is a must so that you can field Capt. Jonus for free rerolls on all secondary weapons (most of the raiders shots are secondary) meaning he is great value but also a big target.

EDIT: This is just my raider builds so the rest of the wing is up to you, but Kagi (lambda) and Jonus are great support

I was thinking, of a mix of homing/harpoon for the aft and fore sections, and a Quad laser for the 2nd Hardpoint on the aft section, to fend off any ennemy ship that would get in range 1 of my sides. Jonus and Kagi seems to be a must have, for reroll and extra protection. Or maybe Col Jendon with Lambda title for an extra TL on the raider.

As for the rest of my fleet, should I go Ace pilot, or generic low PS ships. I want to avoid a tie swarm, I figure they are just gonna be picked one after the other with no real threats to the other fleet.

I like to fly Whisper with Swarm Leader instead of VT, with either an escort of Interceptor or regular Tie, for the 6/7 (range 1) attack dices. But that usually puts a target on their back.

Or maybe a couple of Defenders, equipped with Tie/D title and either Ion cannon or Flechette Cannon for the extra attack/ion or stress token

From past experience here is my suggestion:

Raider-class Corvette (Aft) + Darth Vader + Weapons Engineer + Proton Torpedoes (or harpoons) + Cluster Missiles + Gunnery Team + Ordnance Experts + Ordnance Tubes + Impetuous
Raider-class Corvette (Fore) + Proton Torpedoes (or harpoons) + Tibanna Gas Supplies
"Howlrunner" + Adaptability
Colonel Jendon + Emperor Palpatine

Rear support squad
Colonel Vessery + Swarm Leader + TIE/x7
Countess Ryad + Juke + TIE/x7
Academy Pilot
Academy Pilot
Academy Pilot

I assumed you don't have Jonus, if you do let me know since he is an auto-include when you fly the raider. I prefer Proton Torpedoes to Harpoons since the raider does not have the ability to change focuses unless you use Palp. I always have Jonus in my squads so rerolls is not a problem. Since you don't have him maybe its better if you use harpoons. Your teams will provide the modification to your blanks.
It is imperative to keep your rear support squad near or behind the aft section to make sure nothing gets behind the raider. Use the Raider as the spearhead of your attack. Vader will be loosing you 4-6 shields a turn, but you should be able to recharge them at least once. Still, don't worry too much if they cripple the fore section because you can still fire your torps or missiles from there. Howlrunner should provide free rerolls to your main and Jendon a TL when you mostly need it. If the rebel transport has Toryn Far on it, set the Raider across it and kill it first (this is where Jendon will be most useful to you).

Frankly speaking though, since there is no CR-90 to counter the Raider, your friends wont enjoy the match up.

Aces tend to be underwhelming in epic, phantoms in particular because they take too many attacks, If you intend to use missiles I suggest going all the way, and using your bank maneuvers to sweep enemies out from beneath your raider. I personally like the missiles that dont spend the lock so that you can fire all of them.

and kill toryn's carrier ship first
