Late to the Party: Sato ATP hammerheads

By Tiberius the Killer, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I haven't tried a Hammerhead swarm yet, but I just purchased by 2nd pack of them, and I want to give it a shot.

Long distance ATPs seem pretty sweet, so this is what I came up with.

I could easily drop Draven and Phoenix Home, but having a little more Flak seemed nice. Also I don't know if it matters if I've first or second. Also I'm wondering if I can change up my squads to be more resilient.

Also I could save some points by foregoing TFA, and dropping OE for TFO. But I think they need all the help they can get to stay alive. And STM! seems fun with them also.

Anyways, I'd love any feedback. 5 Possible ATP shots in a turn seems pretty devastating to any ship.

I ran a very similar list in the WV regional. I enjoyed playing it but being a new player I didn't do so hot with it. ISD's tend to blow up Hammerheads so fast that STM doesn't really do anything.

Have you considered TF Organa and OE? It sacrifices some durability, but makes the ATPs more reliable with only two black dice (up to an 82% chance from 68%.) Triggering five APTs at long range should (indirectly) stop some damage from hitting you. :P I ran a similar concept with Dodonna and double rerolls tonight, and they went off pretty consistently by the third roll.

Yeah, I wonder if STM is really worth the gimmick. I suppose in some situations it can be great. Especially at long distance, Evading one dice, and redirecting and soaking one or two damage could do a lot, but will the situation arise that often?

Doing TFO and OE is an interesting thought. That would really give consistency, I just worry that it would it sacrifice an attack from a HH each round.

Consider disposable capacitors. 1 red die is irrelevant if obstructed

I'm working on something similar:

Downrange! (399/400)
===================
MC30c Scout Frigate (69 + 50)
+ Commander Sato (32)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)

In my experience, STM is nowhere near good enough. As for TFO and OE, just don't use the rerolls on you first attack rather than losing an attack, you just lose the rerolls.

It makes Precision Strike pretty good, not just for the 15 points per crit shot, but for the CF tokens. I'm still struggling between fielding it or Opening Salvo.

Here is my updated list:

It won just barely against a imperial bomber fleet (I was able to flak away the intel) and it demolished a Raddus pair of MC80s. I really enjoy it, and I am learning to fly in formations.

Also Luke has been clutch getting off one more damage when I need it.

Thoughts?

Good iteration

Looks pretty interesting! But wouldn't you want to spring for either Task Force Antilles, or Organa, with so many hammerheads?

OE does the work of TFO, Antilles is a bit over costed in this fleet.

Like @teeseeuu said, TFA is too pricey. And I squeezed general draven in by ditching TFO. But I found usually I don't need it, and it is somewhat annoying to make work anyways.
