Grand idea....we've done a few reps on crazy ideas before I blathered them. The most fun one was making pre-nerf Dengar --in all his zuckuss dead-eye torp glory-- be forced to utilize the Lambda dial, he was immediately balanced.

Agreed. Though I would caution those who want to do this not to become overconfident in your findings if you are just sampling your local group. While potentially good data, variables like local bias can affect results.

Now, something that can help reduce those variables is for those communities that are testing the idea to also reach out to each other and form a Vassel or TTS league. More testing versus more varied opponents would be a boon to the discussion.

I suppose the way to fix both PS-race and bidding-war is to cap PS at 9, but have initiative alternate between players.

I can't say that it'd be a better world. It'd be a different world, and one I think would be cool to visit. Maybe folks would like to stay there.

I could do printed Pilot Skill + d6, but I don't really want more randomness than that. :lol:

VI should be non-unique only. A way to bring variation to non-unique pilots. Same with Adaptibility.

considering most generics don't have EPT because the game wasn't designed that way. your suggestion fails on so many levels.

Try counting up those generics with EPTs. I believe there are over 21 in the game.

Names pilots have a canon pilot skill. We know their abilities from canon materials. So, do they take performance enhancing drugs and suddenly improve their skills two levels.

21 out of 83 and as for the 21 most of those are from wave 8 and beyond, but no use to having a conversation with Nerf Herders. As long as FFG keeps throwing out errata, the cancer just keep getting strong and grows more until it makes the competive game scene worse than 40k.

Here is the proposed rule change that caps pilot skill and I think it will work. If anyone wants, please have a play test. ... posted a screenshot below since this attachment doesn't work.

Flavor is wonderful, but you seem to be stuck on it. The suggestions in this thread are purely for mechanical purposes.

If you nerf VI to only work on PS7 or lower, to prevent higher than PS9, then you also have to nerf Adaptability to be usable on PS8 or lower.

Here is a screenshot of the doco of the proposed rule. Let me know your thoughts.

I originally attached a PDF so that it could be passed around but others could not download it. Is there a problem with attaching an image?
