If only you would have just done more actions... :(

Okay, so this version of Vynder may just be the most fun possible in X-Wing.

Curse and your productivity! I’m not caught up from last week. (Well spring break is around the corner so I’ll have time for that then... right?)

JK, thank you guys for a consistent stream of content!

Ooh that is fun! I played that in a 3-way furball game, really enjoyable!

Okay, so I was thinking about running this without Prockets, because that just seems like more points on a single ship than I am comfortable with. I also thought about running it with two x7 Deltas with Stealth.

So there are three possible builds I'm thinking about running and I was hoping maybe you guys could tell me what you think.

1) Harpoons.

Spending TL + Focus = 3.75 Hits

Spending TL or Focus = 3 Hits

NERFED BY FENN (no mods) = 2 Hits

- Upside is keeping TL.

- Downside is that Harpoons blow up in my face every single time.

- Upside is 99 point list.

2) Homers.

Spending TL + Focus = 3.75 Hits

Spending TL or Focus = 3 Hits

NERFED BY FENN (no mods) = 2 Hits

- Upside is keeping TL.

- Upside no Harpoons in my face.

- Upside is that it goes through evade tokens.

- Downside it puts me at 100 points so no bid against Dash or other PS 7s.

3) Concussions.

Spending Focus = 3.68 Hits

NERFED BY FENN (no mods) = 2.68 Hits

- Downside is having to acquire TL.

- Better without mods than others, and better with a single mod than the others.

- Upside no Harpoons in my face.

- Upside is 99 point list.

Pretty sure Andrew only shot pockets a few times, harpoons were much more consistent.

My only concern with the double delta route is you lack a closer. Vynder is in no way, shape or form a closer on his own. It's why we steered Andrew towards Quiz, and also Palp to help with his mods being turned off. I believe Chip (hatchet man's creator) was running him alongside Kylo and Wampa which is a good closer and a little **** in Wampa that you ignore at your own peril.

Thank you.

I've never been much of a Palp-Aces player, frankly I'm more of a punchy-punchy face Rebel player.

If I ran this version of Vynder, do you think it's more of a closer? PS 9. Both Concussions and Plasmas have mods in of themselves? Less time reloading.

Major Vynder — Alpha-class Star Wing 26
Veteran Instincts 1
Plasma Torpedoes 3
Concussion Missiles 4
Advanced SLAM 2
Os-1 Arsenal Loadout 2
Ship Total: 38
Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30
Stealth Device 3
TIE/x7 -2
Ship Total: 31
Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30
Stealth Device 3
TIE/x7 -2
Ship Total: 31

The whole point of the prockets is to make R1 an actual threat. If you've got a weapon disabled token (Vynder's natural game state) you can't shoot R1 at all. Having a R1 ordnance is in there to keep people out of the bubble.

FYI, I got the reference.

Oh there are plenty of sportsball fans out there who get it, but the blank stares on Andrew's and Joel's faces required some kind of commentary from me lol.

In regards to Vynder, I think PTL and Advanced Slam go together too well to drop, especially given that you can Slam, Adv slam a reload, then push for a TL to fire the ordinance you just reloaded through your weapons disabled. If only Imps had a way to give Vynder a TL at a higher PS. And a 2 straight clears your stress, with 2 hards and banks available you can end up basically anywhere. The setup feels like a joy to fly and really makes me want to makes use of the gunboat I won in Nashville.

I have been running PTL/Aslam/Harpoon Rho's basically since they came out! Never tried Vynder.

Who were the foreign guys during this episode? You didn't even introduce them...

:P

I've run versions of these lists since the Star Wing came out. Wampa just dies way too fast.

Mine have been Expertise/Concussion/GC/Title Rhos. Consistent 4 hits with the Concussion missiles.

Vynder runs Prockets and Ion Pulse Missiles. Fun way to outfit him.

So Andrew here, I struggled with keeping the procket on or moving to IPM and Harpoons for a while, but having that Range 1 threat really made a big difference in how my opponents flew/made their repostional choices. Vynder CAN be a closer if he doesn't take too much damage early and can out PS the opponents ships, however that rarely happens.

We talked about throwing 2 Rho's in the mix, but then the obvious choice is "kill Vynder" deal with other boats afterwards. Overall I enjoyed the palp aces style, not something I really thought i would ever fly but it was fun enough. Quiz moves a bit to slowly though for how I fly.

That was my main hangup with the Inquisitor for a long time too. He just can’t move very fast unless it’s in a straight line. Until this season I always flew him with suboptimal EPTs like VI or Expertise just to keep his dial open.
