RRG and L2P Errors/Clarification Thread

By OMGBRICK, in Star Wars: Legion

I thought that now that we have access to both rulebooks, it'd be a good idea to start a thread with a collection of rules fumbles that should be FAQ'd, updated, etc. To start off:

Someone on the Facebook group pointed out this morning that the RRG makes only one reference to keywords stacking - under the Impact section (p 30) (and there it only reminds you that Impact stacks - not weapon keywords in general). Does anyone else feel that keywords stacking should also be referenced under the Pierce section (p 36) and especially in the Keyword section (p 31). It's good that the ruling is in the L2P Guide, but I feel it should also be in the RRG.

Perhaps more importantly than this, neither the L2P Guide or the RRG make reference to Unit Keywords stacking at all (p 17, p 31). The L2P Guide only states that Weapon Keywords stack (p 15). The only official reference I can find to Unit Keywords stacking can be found in the AT-ST article discussing General Weiss and the Arsenal keyword. Personally, I'd never consider promotional news articles as any form of official rules reference. So, although it is obvious that the intent is for Unit Keywords to stack (thus giving Weiss the ability to make the AT-ST Arsenal 4), the rules do not currently support this. Right now it looks like Weiss grants a noncumulative Arsenal 2 to a unit that already has Arsenal 2. It also looks like Stormtroopers don't get a cumulative Precise 2 from taking Targeting Scopes.

Anybody else find something that looks like it needs clarification?

I am also keen to find out the answer for General Weiss and Arsenal keyword stacking...

I think this is a rules ambiguity. They explain Cover determination in 2 different ways:

Quote

RRG pg22

1. Determine Number of Obscured Miniatures: The player traces an imaginary line from the center of the base of the attacker’s unit leader to the center of the base of a mini in the defending unit. If the imaginary line crosses either a
piece of terrain or another unit’s base, that mini is obscured.

...

2. Determine Cover: If at least half of all of the defender’s minis are obscured, that unit has cover.

RRG Pg8

COVER TYPE
Whether or not a piece of terrain provides cover varies from miniature to miniature. As a general rule, terrain that blocks line of sight to half or more of a mini provides cover, while terrain that blocks less than half of a mini does not.
