Cast your mind back to 2013, November approximately and a certain legendary mecha anime was getting a miniatures game on kickstarter. Big money was pledged, well over a million in fact, big promises were made, and excitement was to be had. Then the delays started, the partnering company departed saying they had better things to do, and then more delays with suppliers. But finally after two years of waiting, goodies started shipping, backers were pleased but asking when is the rest coming. More delays, new suppliers and a total redesign. Then tragedy struck, the company said they could not afford to produce what they promised, and to top everything off, they lost their license to the IP.

So rest in peace Transforming Robot Miniatures Game, you'll soon be relegated to the clearance shelf and online auction sites.

(Maybe someone else on here backed this on kickstarter. I did, disappointed and not surprised at all that this happened.)

Yep. Did a showdown pledge, with add ons. Out hundreds of dollars.

For those that dont know. We’re talking about the Robotech miniatures Kickstarter from Palladium. Probably the biggest train wreck in KS gaming. Sigh.

Ouch... that's rough. I did a battlecry pledge myself, plus extra Zentraedi power armor. Did you get the e-mail about swapping wave two rewards for wave one?

Yeah. But it really kinda looks like they’re screwing us again with the values their placing on stuff. Plus, I’ve already come to the conclusion that I pledged too much and have more of the basic units than I need.

Plus, that is kinda an obvious ploy for them to reduce inventory of stuff they are never going to sell and someone on the comments of the KS who claims to be a lawyer said that taking them up on that offer would render you ineligible for any future legal settlements.

None of which is all that important to me, but I did really want a bunch of the stuff we’re not going to get now.

I’d suggest FFG look into picking up the license, RT would make a great flight path game, ala x-wing, but it sounds like there are other legal issues with the overall property so that probably won’t happen.

Legal issues is putting it lightly considering the history of Robotech and Harmony Gold. Just thinking about it and how we'll never see the awesomeness of all different Macross series dubbed in the US, makes me want to rant and rave.

Count me in as one of the burned backers (Battlecry + Super Valks + Armored Valks).

But, to be honest, my main reason for buying into this was the possibility of obtaining high-quality 1:185 minis for a certain Non-Transforming Giant Mecha Game. So the future of the Robotech game as such does not really concern me...

I went double reckless, and looking back maybe the name of the pledge should have told me something.

I think Harmony Gold's hold on Macross ends in the early 2000s so hopefully we will get to see the likes of Macross 7, Frontier, Delta, and the OVAs coming to the states in the coming future.

If I had a spare of any of them, you’d have it... I think only the Locust is a possibility ( definitely no doubles of Shads or Scorps... but maybe a Phoenix Hawk or two... wasp and Stinger...)

I have at least one of everything else (well, the Longbow comes from the Robotech KS, but that's good enough), just missing those three. And the Locust is by far my biggest want... if you have any spares, I'd be totally happy to purchase it/them - or trade for some Armada goodies!

I split a Showdown with someone and then sold all of my Wave 1 stuff. Thinking I may use the wave 2 credit towards replacing the Wave 1 stuff if only for Unseen purposes.

Yeah, like you found new computer game, but also Catalyst game labs is release a new introductory game and starter set this year.

I've still got another box to go through - and I'm unsure which "era" of Locust you're after....

Not the IIC (I only collect 3025 stuff), but I'm all over the left one! It's hard to tell from the pic, but it's the PlasTech box model, right?
