Delays in RPG Line now due to Legion push?

This company clearly only listens when it comes to money.

Also, I don’t need your condescending attitude, so you can go ahead and keep it.

No, I actually am sorry. I don't agree at all but you have a right to feel however you like.

For myself, and possibly khazadune?, it's more the lack of communication and how unimportant we apparently are to FANTASY FLIGHT GAMES. If they were upfront and honest about what is going on, and why, there would be less hard feelings and harsh responses to the seemingly endless delays. I think it's fair to say that most people in the swrpg forums here have spent hundreds and a large number have spent around a thousand buying these books. And to have the loyalty of this community be so grossly ignored and minimalized by not even one sentence from FFG to say what's up is disheartening and ignorant in the very least.

For myself, I've been playing this game for around 5 years and about 2 years ago I finally decided to start buying these books. Needless to say right around the time the... diffculties... started. Apparently at the right time to see what this company is really about.

I've never been one to support a company who cares nothing for their customers. After these past 2 years it really appears that this IS a company that doesn't value their customers. If it weren't for my love of star wars and my love of rpgs I seriously doubt I'd be supporting them at all.

The sad thing of it is, it seems to be a common belief that the companies we buy from owe us nothing. The truth of the matter is that the companies we buy from ONLY exist because we buy from them. You can't stay in business if you don't have customers and a large number of companies have forgotten that.

I realize that a lot of people will not feel or think this way. I realize this post may sound like I'm angry or whining or just plain upset. Let me assure you that this is not the case. The only reasons for this post are to defend those who are like minded, to try to make sure that FFG realizes they are alienating customers with their actions and lack there of, and with the hopes that they will do something about it before it's too late.

And yes it appears legion is the latest reason.

FFG currently has 24 products listed as "Shipping Now". Only 9 are for Legion.

It's possible that the Star Wars RPG books are at the FFG warehouse, but they don't have the manpower to just repackage and ship everything at once.

Yes, they do have a hard deadline for Legion, but I tend to believe that their other products are just as important to them as Legion is.

Remember, they want their products on the shelves as soon as possible so we can buy them. They don't make money on inventory that's just sitting in their warehouse (well, except possibly for pre-orders).

I'm just as anxious for the new books as everyone else, but our lack of patience doesn't constitute an obligation on FFG's part.

All this whinning about FFG lack of communication running around all the forum is beginning to be tiresome. We just got a new book recently and yet there is complanning because there are people here who always need more.

double post apparently

A) Not everyone has the new book, it's not reached the EU or Australia yet, for one thing.

B) Fully Operational was announced over a year ago. Some people have had pre-orders in for it (and the other books we're waiting on) for up to 6 months. That can be money out of their accounts that they could have spent on other things. And while that money was to retailers, it then affects their relationships with their retailers, and the retailers with distributors/FFG (e.g. some stores have simply stopped doing pre-orders for SW RPG books because of the poor communications and overlong time to arrive (and note, ffg are taking pre-orders themselves on books but giving no indication of when they might be available.

C) Just because a book was recerntly released doesn't mean they're wrong, and you're right. Customers have the right to express their satisfaction, or disatisfaction in products and service from the stores aned companies we give our money to.

Yeah, I get that. And I'm sorry that in a world rife with problems, this is yet one more for you. You betcha I agree regarding the lack of communication and the whimsical non-answers from customer service, they're very frustrating. I don't think ragequitting or getting angry is going to change this, though, thus my concern. I hate to see decent folks turned off to something they like because of the way the company supports its smallest subset of customers.

I've had FO on preorder for that period of time, but I'm not complaining. I can't fault a company for wanting to capitalize on certain lines that bring in greater revenue, we just don't know their financial situation and given they were just acquired, we don't really know their priorities or motivations. What I do know, though, is that they're tight-lipped on it.

That's for the best. Unfortunately, FFG made the #1 mistake any games publisher can make - set a deadline and miss it. When I worked on Shadowrun , a new policy was put into place with regard to new supplement announcements: it will come out when it comes out. No due dates.

Unless you're a retailer, I think pre-ordering anything is a bad idea. Plus, Star Wars is the most sought-after license in the world of games. It's not like the print runs will be so small that gamers who want something will miss out.

UK waited 10 weeks after it was on sale in the US for No Disintegrations, which was then out of stock at the distributor within a week of arriving over here (and is still out of stock with them).

Special Modifications went out of stock 3 times within a week of its original launch, and each reprint, a friend only got his this week having tried to buy it multiple times before.

At the moment, over here, 9 books are unavailable from the distributor, incuding 2 of the core rulebooks.

Keeping supply low keeps demand high... artificially anyway.

That’s mostly economically beneficial for things people want to buy again and again like say, wagyu beef, or things you can set a higher price on due to demand like say, diamonds. There is no such benefit for keeping demand high with these books. All it does is drive more players to illegal copies and spending their money elsewhere. FFG is absolutely losing money due to these products being hard to get. The only ones benefitting are resellers who can ask inflated prices.

We are just a bunch of ants under the foot of a giant. You can complaint all you want, FFG doesn't care. You know why? Because we are all going to buy these books anyways and in the following years most people will have forgotten than their copy of "Fully opérational" took a year to be published. So do us a favor and stop polluting these forums with your dissatisfaction. Nobody is forcing you to wait.

And, as I’be mentioned before, it’s likely that even if they wanted to provide more information, they’re likely not allowed to by Disney or Azmodee or both.

Why does it make the slightest difference to you that anyone is wanting better customer service?

Frankly, no, im not going to do you any favours.

Well, I'd say it's probably that there are more than a few complaint threads, nobody from FFG ever reads or comments on them, and some people feel like complaining about it is OT in some threads. But that's just a guess.

There is a lot of knock on effect as a result of the problems however that were still being felt as late in the year

Dont forget that there was a dockyard strike in there - what, '15? '16? A couple of years ago. That sent shipping times into a tailspin and took forever to straighten out. That cant have helped matters.

The problem is, folks on the other side of the business from us are VERY restricted on what they can and cannot say. I've had friends at both WotC and WEG on the SW line who told me that this was the case. Sure, that was 10-15 years ago, but I cant imagine that things have changed too much with the current company.

Absolutely. Any comments on things that are going wrong need to be signed off on by someone high up, and if they later decide to backtrack you’ll usually still be considered to have made a mistake passing that info on regardless. Better not to say anything, or at least as little as possible, unless you’re in charge of the communication. It’s one of the more frustrating parts of customer service. You can help people with their problems, but you absolutely can’t tell them about the company’s.
