Nym/Keyan List

By Stinger07, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Okay, so I have been playing with this list a bit seeing what I should do with it.

Keyan gets PTL to consistently provide him stress for use with his ability. If he doesn't take a red move, we can give him stress via PTL. Sensor Jammer is on both ships to provide an extra layer of protection given the imperfect amount of health on the list, combined with the low green dice count.

The main thing I am iffy on is the APT on Keyan and the PT on Nym. Keyan's stress to eyeballs is very good and synergizes well with the APT, but it is 6 points. Would linked battery and standard torpedos be a better bet? Also, for nym, I don't have harpoons in my collection unfortunately.

So, thoughts?

I see you haven’t been in the forums much. As a friendly tip; save yourself the energy of typin card and combo explanations.

How long have you been playing this game? This list...

...smells like fresh meat.

Friendly list building tip #1: not every upgrade slot should be filled every time.

Any competent opponent will kill your Farlander for that tasty 53-point chunk of MoV before he uses half his upgrades. A good opponent with a half-baked list should kill that Farlander before it does anything useful.

General guidance for B-wings: run them as light as possible to minimize the inevitable pain of losing them.

If you want Nym in a 2-ship list, take a large base ship or a regen ship for Nym’s wingman.

Friendly list building tip #2: Missiles are better than Torpedoes. Point for point. Every time.

Nym has a missile upgrade option. Drop the Proton Torps and take any missile. Almost any missile is a better choice than a Proton Torp.

Friendly List Building Tip #3: Sensor Jammer is overpriced and it’s only good if you can prevent your opponent from changing focus results to hits. Sensor Jammer gets less effective and more overcosted with every wave.

Your list doesn’t do any of the things Sensor Jammer needs to work properly. Use a different System Upgrade or take Collision Detectors (free) and spend the 8 points somewhere else.

your close actually @Stinger07 ... closer than you may think. what you have built is fun, but yes, not the most competitive. try this.

A similar list ranked pretty well in a regionals, I think Cardiff, and it did well. It does need to be flown very well, but at PS10 you got some options.

The flow should be this: setup the joust, throw Proton bombs, 1 forward (so you don't bomb yourself), target lock enemy with both. Fire Harpoon with Nym. Then fire proton torpedos with Ten Numb, with an uncancelable Crit that triggers the harpoon condition. Should deal a ton of damage.

Problems:

-both ships, but especially the B-wing will melt under fire incredibly fast

- The b-Wing is one of the least maneuverable small bases in the game. it cannot run away.

- the joust is harder to setup than you think to get everything to land if your opponent is aware of the combo.

- the potential to hurt yourself is pretty high.

if you want to fly B-Wings there is a "B-Wing build" thread kicking around with some fantastic ideas.
