Dreadnought Class Cruiser in the new Rebels Season Finale Trailer

By ianediger, in Star Wars: Armada

What was that shuttle from Ahsoka? the white and red sunburst one?

Also, the Corvus is way cuter.

Not too much longer till the show. Everyone will have to tell me how it goes since my satellite service is out, and I don’t think it will be fixed by tonight. Oh well, guess I’ll catch it in reruns.

You REALLY have no respect for spoilers, do you?

Text reads:

"Among the support ships blockading Lothal are designs derived from the Imperial dreadnoughts that figured so prominently in the Thrawn Trilogy. They date back to the 1990 Imperial Sourcebook from West End Games."

Not suprised they called them something different. I wonder if they are still 600m?

Also, I might be alone on this, but it really reminds me of a chunky 90’s video game render. How they used to do rounded surfaces with bevels. I wonder if that was intentional?

If that bridge window section is the same size as the Interdictor bridge window section - maybe we can work out what size this ship should be?

We know that, based on the hangar size, the Rebels Interdictor is on the order of 1219m (maybe plus or minus a few m).

That was my thought as well, but for now let’s just hope it is just the animated version, like the giraffe star destroyers in rebels.

also that “space whale” end was “interesting” to say the least

Someone suggested it was a Carrack-class light cruiser. From what we can see, it MIGHT be, but it looks more like a Dreanought in my eyes. Though the two are similar. The size will be important here.

I hope if they ever do put the Carrack on screen that it looks more like this than other iterations: AQNiZiU.jpg

I wonder.. think they're trying to merge the carrack and dreadnaught designs into one ship? They look identical after a point, and I can see traits of both in the rebels design.

I hope note. There is room for both with a 300m Carrack and 600m Dreadnought. The Carrack could be the Imperial Nebulon B, and the Dread would make a good pairing with the AF1

Hard to say - I really wish their concept art slide they uploaded was the one with the scale on it, but they went with the other page. As such, based on what we saw in the episode, it's really hard to tell how big it's supposed to be. Clearly quite a lot smaller than a Star Destroyer - but, then, it would be either way. Can't quite tell if it's also supposed to be smaller than an Arquitens or not - it almost looks like it is.

Funny how nobody noticed the Ghost attached to the freighter.

It makes me think the Dreadnaught was a troll move to draw attention away from the Ghost for the trailer ?

screencap from the episode. occurs just before the bit seen in the trailer. i'd say that with the ISD being 1600m, the Dread being 600m seems plausible.

Gregor the clone was the only Rebel death.

RIP unnamed and unremembered Lothal resistance members that we saw fight the stormtroopers but were absent when they retreated into the cave.

I guess if we were all imperials the Ghost would have made it through the blockade. Proof that this tactic works! LOL.

The Bridge is at least as big as the Arquitens and Quasar Bridge.

I would reckon that we're looking at a ship about the length of a Quasar.

Something smaller then EU but still a good mid range sized ship.

Medium Base.

I'd say the Interdictor bridge is the best measure for direct comparison, since it has 5 windows in a neat row, wheres the other two have a bulge in the middle of their window sections.

Using the FFG Interdictor model's hangar as a basis for scaling (since the hangar length is the same as the ISD hangar length- made the Interdictor around 1219m (the model is 160mm long).

Its bridge module (the whole thing) is 43mm wide - corresponding to 327.6m.

Its window section is on the order of 1/21 of this - 15.6m wide. It might be a little less (if the ratio is 1/23 rather than 1/21) but it's not going to be more.

Maybe we can work out the approximate size of the Imperial Support Vessel by estimating the width of the whole "bow slit" (at least 5x the width of the window section and maybe slightly more) - and then estimate the length of the bow slit compared to the rest of the vessel.

So, it’s a dread or carrack?

Really, it’s a new design based off the Dreadnought. It’s likely the closest we will get to the Dreadnought Class in new canon.

So unless they name it otherwise, it’s neither. It is the Imperial Support Vessel.

Ok, so more like the Hammerheads than anything else. A nod to an old design, but a completely new, smaller ship.

Most likely that is exactly correct.
