Now that we know what the Win Conditions are for regular play, which may or may not change for tournament play, how do we see this impacting list building?
If you go with the Multiple Small Units (MSU) method (base unit with no/minimal upgrades) then you have more Unit Leaders for objective scoring, and all 4 of the objectives so far revolve around unit leaders being how you score Victory Tokens, which is how you win the game. The downside to this is that your Unit Leaders have less troopers in the unit to soak up wounds before they are eliminated.
If you go with the full unit method (additional trooper, heavy weapon trooper, variable upgrades) then you improve the survivability of your units and Unit Leaders, but you potentially have less unit leaders on the board with which to score Victory Tokens.
The other considerations are the tie breakers if both players have the same number of Victory Tokens. First is the point value of enemy units and upgrades you've destroyed. If this is still a tie then the Blue Player wins. Since the player that has the smaller point value at the start of the game gets to choose to be the Blue Player or Red Player, this means that having a smaller point total (Initiative Bid) can theoretically win you the game.
