RULES!!!!

By Dave Grant, in Star Wars: Legion

So psyched to read the rules in full from the new article.

I thought it would be good to have a topic posting rules that people hadn't picked up yet from the various articles / videos etc.

Here's one to start

"When checking for panic, a unit that is at range 1–3 of a

friendly commander may use that commander’s courage value

instead of its own. A courage value of “–” is infinitely high."

Vader!!! absolute boss at making all those Stormtroopers around him immune to panic (he's clearly scarier than those puny rebel guns).

Any more ???

So, can I only activate the units I've given commands to? This seems wrong, otherwise, why have the other units at all if they are just sitting there getting shot to pieces. Or do the Command cards (Push, Assault, etc) happen before and out of activation? I don't get how this works at all

You activate all your units in a turn.

The way it works is you pick a card. The card tell you how many units you can give orders to at the start of the turn.

You place an order token on that number of units. You can choose to activate any of these units at any point during your turn.

Any units that didn’t get orders, their tokens go into a random pool.

When you don’t want to activate one of the units with an order on it, you pull from the pool.

you are then forced to activate one of the units matching the token type you randomly drew.

orders are just a way to plan specific units being able to activate at a specific time in a turn

thank you, that for some reason is super confusing to me and I wasn't sure if I could trust the videos I'd seen.

I imagine planning which units will move first / last, shoot first etc will be of high importance. Orders are how you make this happen (you could still luck out and activate in the best order by randomly drawing)

Also interesting that orders will increasingly have other effects (such as bombardments or making Vader even scarier)

Also something to consider when list designing as if you can try to have only Corps in the "bag" then you will know that you can pull one out of the bag as needed.

Another thing I noticed is that "troopers" claim objectives (it doesn't say Corps)... this can include elite or command guys (ie Vader - have you noticed an obsession with the black suited one :-) ).

From the videos I had thought it would have to be Stormtroopers and the like getting the objectives

yeah it actually has to be the leader or stormtrooper sgt. so not even his minions can claim objectives unless assigned as the new leader because the other is defeated.

I am looking for a bit of rules that clearly say that each mini can only contribute with one weapon.

Rules say that you choose one weapon per mini while gathering the attack pool but they also say that if there are weapons (not minis) not assigned to a pool yet you may go from steps 1 and 2 again creating new attack pools.

There is the arsenal x rule that obviously means a mini need that rule to contribute with more than one weapon but I didn't find where is said that minis only contribute with one weapon.

Not sure if I explained myself.

Attack 2C. Choose Weapons: The attacker can choose one weapon from each eligible mini to contribute to the attack pool. To choose a weapon, the attacker must meet all requirements indicated by that weapon’s keywords, and that weapon’s range must include the range of the attack, as determined from the attacker’s unit leader to the closest mini of the defender.

Edit I just realized i probably quoted you the rule you first referenced.

arsenal x allows you to make addtional attacks with another weapon such as on the AT-ST. A mini that has the arsenal x keyword can divide its weapons between any number of units, forming a separate dice pool for each weapon or combination of weapons. Arsenal 2, 2 targets 2 dice pools

I could use a clarification regarding Vader's Courage value and non-panicking Stormtroopers.

The rules say that Vader doesn't have a Courage value at all (meaning he can't be assigned suppression tokens). My interpretation is that he therefore doesn't keep Stormtroopers from panicking. Does the quote above come from official sources?

The quote is from the on-line rulebook - about as official as it gets :-)

Ah, the panic section of Learning to Play. Duh, didn't think to check there.

Thank you!
