Dengar/nym (sugestions)

I would really consider swapping engine upgrade to TLT on Nym, I feel the BR is enough reposition on the jumpmaster, but I don't feel autoblaster is strong enough unless you are planning on meeting a ton of palp-aces..

I saw this really interesting Dengar the other day. I don't recall exactly what Nym had (I think it was Autoblaster, TrajSim, Bomblets, Harpoons, but I can't be sure).

However, Dengar was Title, Lone Wolf, Gonk, Experimental Interface, and Burnout SLAM.

Gonking your shields back up is pretty nice with his pilot ability, and you'll still get solid mods. Against a Ghost list? I wasn't watching the game, but the guy did beat a mostly-standard Lothal/Fenn. Burnout SLAM also seems pretty cool. Blast your way out, possibly even with the white S-Loop to turn around, and then you can still Gonk with EI. Seems like a nice thing to do when in trouble; having a turn pass with no shots on either side is something a regen ship almost always loves to see.

That does seem like a pretty cool Dengar, can you recall where you saw it? I would very much like to see it in action, my only worry is the only one focus for modifier. As for Dengar/Nym this is what I'm running right now:

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: •Captain Nym (45)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
•Havoc (0)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
•Bomblet Generator (3)
Trajectory Simulator (1)
•"Genius" (0)

Jumpmaster 5000: •Dengar (55)
Counter-Measures (3)
•Punishing One (12)
Expertise (4)
K4 Security Droid (3)

Total: 100/100

But, because I love Lone Wolf in Dengar I also want to try this:

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: •Captain Nym (45)
Engine Upgrade (4)
•Havoc (0)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
•Bomblet Generator (3)
Trajectory Simulator (1)
•"Genius" (0)

Jumpmaster 5000: •Dengar (55)
Counter-Measures (3)
•Punishing One (12)
•Lone Wolf (2)
Recon Specialist (3)
Glitterstim (2)

Total: 100/100

Nym runs because TLT allowing Dengar's Lone wolf to trigger easily.

In person at Epic Loot in Centerville, OH at one of their every-other-week Saturday tournaments. The player apparently does pretty well at larger tournaments, Jeff something maybe, but I can't recall.

I've tried Recon Spec a little. It didn't seem bad. Defensively, it seems like it has something over Expertise/K4, but it'd be slightly more limited offensively (1 reroll < all focus). The reason I think I might steal that Gonk build sometime is that I think it offers more than LW/Rec Spec in terms of pure defense. Is that true? Hrm. Using a focus on defense saves 1 damage at least, using an action to Gonk saves 1 damage at most (presuming you've got a stack from when you didn't need other actions). You won't always be able to use your focus on defense, but you also won't always have a Gonk stack. Anyhow, I guess it just appeals to me.

I think your list is very strong! However, I have been somewhat pulled around to this Dengar:

Wired

Maul

Punishing One

Which leaves room for Nym like so:

VI

TLT

EM

Harpoons

GC

Havoc

Genius

Bomblets

TS (leaving 4 points for illicit/mod on Dengar) or Adv. Sensors (leaving 2 points for illicit/mod on Dengar).

Basically your Nym, just with a better turret. Dengar like this is light and versatile. Plus, kinda fun and janky.

That Gonk did work. He had to have gotten back 5 or 6 shields over the course of the game for my opponent. Maybe more. It's hard to be sure. Lone Wolf and a single Focus didn't hit as hard on some of his double-tap turns, but yeah. Regen is good.
