Thoughts/Help with Tagge

By Deadshane, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Noone gives Tagge any respect.

He is pure defensive, so I'll put him on an ISD built to last.

Tagge (352/400)
==============
Kuat Refit (112 + 65)
+ General Tagge (25)
+ Wulff Yularen (7)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Hardened Bulkheads (5)
+ Redundant Shields (8)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
+ Chimaera (4)
+ Entrapment Formation! (5)
Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 + 13)
+ Skilled First Officer (1)
+ Advanced Projectors (6)
+ Slaved Turrets (6)
Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 + 13)
+ Skilled First Officer (1)
+ Advanced Projectors (6)
+ Slaved Turrets (6)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Captain Jonus (16)

Chimaera will swap EF for Sheilds....and start spamming.

Yes, X17>Advanced Projectors. Kittens can make use of the gear though, especially with the fleet order. The other option is redundant shields on them...but that makes turbolaser choice more difficult and the ship more expensive.

ISD gains 2 sheilds a turn, with Wulf AND a comms net repair token, can get another 6 repair points a turn. 5 shield points a turn for survival...burning defense tokens fearlessly. The ISD gets stuck in early and scraps without dying. (plan)

Jonus to aid Kittens.

Where do the remainder of points go? Bid? Fighter mix?

Missions? If the ISD can be virtually unkillable, would it be funny to designate IT as the target in Most Wanted? LOL.

Thoughts? No different Admirals please. The point here is Tagge on an ISD.

I flew a very similar fleet, trying to make Tagge work. I think I had TRCs on the Arqs, and ECMs on the ISD (to ensure I actually got to use tokens so I could ensure I got to throw them away so I could justify taking Tagge.)

Even flying STRAIGHT at the enemy at full speed... I didn't take enough damage turn 2 to discard any defense tokens.... And then got battered turn 3 and 4 with no benefit from my admiral. The timing on his ability is just so hard to use.

IDK. Mad props for trying to make Tagge work. In general I do love AP on the Arqs. It allows them to take one giant sickening hit (without XI7s) and only lose shields.

And as much as I love the idea of regenerating shields (or making redundant shields decent in the first place) I think you really want ECMs. The idea with Tagge (or at least how I envisioned it) was I race forward guns blazing, throw my brace away on the first 2 hits I take, and then instantly get it back! In reality though they'll either accuracy your brace, or you won't even get shot enough turn 2 to justify it.

Tagge loves the Kuat. I ran two the other night with ECM on each. Force the battle to start early (turn 2) and brace the **** out of everything. Great fun.

Hey, looky here!

Unkillable (400/400)

+ Electronic Countermeasures (7)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)

Interdictor Suppression Refit (90 + 21)
+ Captain Brunson (5)
+ Targeting Scrambler (5)
+ Grav Shift Reroute (2)

+ Interdictor (3)
Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 + 13)

+ Slaved Turrets (6)
Ciena Ree (17)
Valen Rudor (13)
2 x Tie Fighter Squadron (2 x 8)
Most Wanted
Solar Corona
Capture the VIP

ISD gets stuck in but now is aided by Interdictor!

Interdictor is no weak link either. Move terrain to make a good hidey hole where Brunson protects you along with interdictor title and mad shield generation.

Capture VIP....ISD. Most Wanted...ISD. Solar Corona...LOL. I think this is it.

To burn tokens to use tagge I think is basic ecm because your rival don’t let you use them no? In all ships I mean

Drop advanced projectors, with only 8 shields 6 of which you can easily score damage on with your double redirects it isn't worth the points. A single banked repair token will allow you to move the other two over onto a better shield. RBDs can be fun as you can let damage onto your hull (contain any crits) and once you reach 3 damage then you start redirecting. Over a turn break you then discard RBDs to repair.

Swap slaved turrets for DTT or TRCs (possibly with Needa but you have Tagge to get the evades back from time to time).

Don't most wanted the ISD. I know it repairs well but it will still go down if it is concentrated upon. Advanced gunnery will do similar with the double points but you get the glorious double shot with it to get rapid kills.

Doesn't Tagge beg for the Devastator title? I mean that ship lives to dicard tokens. And it could discard its brace in round 2 and 4 for the extra die and then get it back. Pure profit.

Two thoughts:

First, definitely go to ECMs. Spending accuracied tokens is the only way you'll have anything to discard in Round 3.

Second, what are your objectives? I'd make very sure that they all push your opponent into a position where you can force the battle. I ran a similar build and all my objectives focused on 1st player placing everything first. Then I used terrain to force them into a funnel.
