Corellian Conflict Commander Upgrade

By Hoppy2105, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hopefully this is a quick and easy answer (I couldn't find anything after scouring the forums):

When building your fleets in CC, you start by choosing a commander. Does this commander's upgrade value count against your 400 point fleet value? I know the card itself doesn't count against the ship upgrade limit for your flagship, but not sure on the other part.

Thanks!

Sure it does, it's like assembling a standard list, but with the limit of a single upgrade card for each ship!

Thanks! (I figured that was the answer...just wanted to confirm)

No worries, you're not the only person who's asked this. I think maybe the confusion comes from the commander not counting against the single-upgrade-per-ship limitation: if you skim that part, you might think it's saying it doesn't cost anything.

Exactly! I skimmed it and my group and I played a our first battle last Tuesday. However, I think the rebels (the opponents against me and my teammate) included the commander in their value and we did not. Thus, we were able to get an advantage.

I won pretty handily in my battle but I'm not sure if that is because I had a decided advantage due to not counting the points or because the rebels got pinned between obstacles and ended up in front of the forward hull zone of a VSD, ISD, and interdictor cruiser.

Any ideas on how to remedy the fact that I cheated without knowing? Maybe un-scar a few rebel ships? Maybe just replay the battle?

Well, if your whole game group need more experience, since you played only one game, you can just start again the campaign.
The outcome of your first match, however, could be influenced by many factor, not necessarely your mistake with the list.

Or if you all built your fleets to 400 not counting admiral, add the point costs of all your admirals and give that many total upgrade points to the rebel team, split evenly, to upgrade with this round. If you won all 3 games rd 1, I would say you might need to sweeten the pot for them to be motivated to keep playing too, like each fleet on your side can only add 1 upgrade this round. Like a penalty, as it were, for the unintentional advantage you gave yourselves rd 1.
