speculation : in which cycle will we found the exclusive gators ??

By phorcys12, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Ok , with the second investigator exclusive to novella ( until they come with a deluxe by the normal way ) I want to speculate on the timelapse who separate us from the standard versions of Norman , Caroline and Marie , and the thematic of the cycle who bring them . So start betting ^^

Probably in a cycle or 2. If Carolyn and Marie share the same deckbuilding rules I would say even possibly in The Lost Era.

Carolyn's going to have to wait a while to get enough horror healing for her to be viable. They probably won't all come in the same cycle.

for me , anyone of these gators seems good for the cycle Forgotten Age , among the five investigators of this cycle we are certain of the presence of Ursula Down ( Seeker ) and Calvin Wriight ( Survivor? ) and we are almost certain of the presence of Father Mateo ( mystic ? ) and Leo Anderson ( Guardian ? ) with only rogue emplacement who is unknow , and anyone of the exclusive gators are rogue . I think we will have Marie in a cycle center on Shub-Niggurath , possibly the 4 cycle ( because this is the one we had the most waited ) , after , a Insmouth/Cthulhu cycle for Norman and possibly Carolyn because the Arkham Sanatorium is a place linked in arkham to Cthulhu or Hastur in my idea . She could come in a dreamlands cycle to , but that is a bit away from us today ^^

As I have delved into the Arkham Horror Files games and the appearances of the varired investigators, I have come to this one conclusion: expansion theme does not always correlate with investigators. For example, Minh was released in Path to Carcosa for Arkham Horror the Card Game. However, she was released in the Under the Pyramid expansion for Eldritch Horror. Instead, we got Wendy Adams, from the core box, and Jenny Barnes, from Dunwich Legacy in the Carcosa expansion for Eldritch.

The investigators that FFG decides to release into specific cycles will be written to make sense. Don't worry.

I'm not so sure. There actually are quite a few options at the moment since she has a few good options in seeker via logical reasoning and rogue via liquid courage, but none of her options take advantage of her access to lvls 4-5 I don't think. I also have a feeling that her standard issue signature asset is going to be a way to heal horror more reliably since it is called Hypnotic Therapy.

I'd assume that whichever cycle she's in, there will be a few good horror healing cards in the deluxe expansion too. Just like I'd expect there to be some occult cards for Marie. And I fully expect the forgotten Age to feature a handful of good Spirit and Illicit cards.

Yeah, I think you can get easily get up to 10 cards to heal horror: Clarity of Mind, First Aid, Fearless, Pete Sylvestre, Inspiring Presence, Liquid Courage and Logical Reasoning (heck thats 14). There are another 3 cards she can take to heal horror.

A third of your deck is normally enough to be good at something.

I am still trying to get my head around her a bit. Here is what she seems to be good at:

  1. Healing Horror (duh)
  2. Clue getting
  3. She could use a number of low level Guardian cards to inflict damage, not as a prime monster slayer, but as a supporting one.

So when I build her, that is what I focus on.

https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/134986 is my current idea for a starting deck for her. She is tricky to build around because she has so many options, it's actually a bit worrying that you feel pressured to include so many healing cards so that they are reliable gets. To be honest, running out of sanity has never been much of a worry for me in general, but I play mostly in easy/normal.

Keep in mind that she's not actually any better at healing horror except that she gains/provides additional resources when doing so. She doesn't heal any more than any other investigator could (except her pool is not limited as theirs would be). This means that really, what she is good at, is team support, investigating, and gaining resources.

Guardians are usually notorious for not having enough resources, but without access to weapons, there's not as much need for them. Dynamite blast is an auto-include in my mind for this reason, and if you are comfortable using teamwork to pass around a few expensive handguns or the like, you may want to include those (not for use by Carolyn, really).

This is my personal impression. Generous usage of Keen Eye, Hyper Awareness, or Fieldwork seems essential for reliable tests, and her excess resources should make this an easier choice to use them this way.

Having access to teamwork also allows her to pass around excellent seeker/mystic assets to people who don't have access to them. A St. Hubert's key passed off to a low investigating/willpower friend can do wonders for their overall performance. The only thing here is that this trick does not work for Lola as well since she must be in a particular role to make use of abilities on cards.

She does have access to some weapons. I believe she is barred from having high level weapons. She can still have level 0 guardian weapons.

Its an interesting situation. On one hand with level 0 Guardian weapons and a 2 fight she is looking at a 3 fight which is not high enough. That being said, a lot of those weapons do +1 damage which is great. Part of me really wants to make her be able to fight since it would be a shame to turn your nose up at all those +1 damage opportunities. I am just concerned she doesn't have the deck space to make it work as she will need a lot of support. I need to play around with her more.

She also can get the upgraded .45 automatics. Those are only a level 2. When I saw that, I made sure my Yorick got ahold of both copies.

She can only have level 0 weapons, though.

Oh, I missed that one.
