Baudo-Class Star Yacht: WWYD?

By Demon4x4, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

IIRC, it was just the pilot and astrogation droid brains that did that. But.... I've had a beer since then.

I'm not sold that the Darvro is the best sil3 "small ship". It definitely has a lot to like ( top 2-3 for sure) but a more thorough comparison is warranted before the crown can be bestowed.

Darvro is a sil 4. Maybe you're thinking about the Tallanx?

Which books are these in?

Strongholds of Resistance.

Ah. Tks

IIRC in the droid brain write-ups it states you can have multiples... even one per weapons system... however they tend to... bicker? with each other.

A ship can have multiple droid brains, but not multiples of the same kind. In other words, you can have an Autopilot droid brain, , Astrogation droid brain, and Gunner droid brain all on the same ship, but not three Gunner droid brains.

This. I think it's an artifact of the minimalist design and honestly dumb, especially since you can put 4 little droid gunners on the ship to man the weapons, but it's the way it is.

So looking for it but can't find any rules saying only one of each type of droid brain. Personally astrogation makes sense to have only one, pilot maybe 2 max makes sense (pilot / copilot), but gunner... I'd say as many as weapons systems you have makes sense to me. But they would bicker with each other on top of the whole overly aggressively firing upon others without provocation... and also would not operate as a minion group (That would limit them to one action per group)

Personally I could see a lot of fun and sticky situations coming from having all these droid brains working against each other so to speak. Just imagine 2 pilot droid brains each wanting to do a different manouver and not doing anything because of them not being able to agree on what should be done then holding it against the Astro db for not making the jump, then the gunner db's firing on the isd or the imperial customs frigate 'as a preemptive strike... he who strikes first strikes last don't you know!!!'

I would say that as a game mechanic you would maybe upgrade or add setbacks to checks to account for the extra db's. So one db, nothing, 2 add setback, 3 remove setback and upgrade, 4 add setback and upgrade, 5 remove setback and add 2 upgrades... and so forth.

The rule is for attachments in general not droid brains in specific, although I did submit a question for the devs and Sam Stewart wrote back that you specifically could not have more than 1 gunnery droid brain on a ship.

Not to poke the plotholes - why does the workshop (room 6) have an en-suite toilet when the quarters (room 7) doesn't?

As for hauling around starfighters, EotE core page 258, breakout box "Starfighters and Freighters." (seriously, does nobody read the boxes?)

A Sil 4 freighter can carry one or two starfighters externally for free. So there ya go. Two Sil 3 or less fighters ready to release and attack at a moments notice, and no HP using attachments to do it.

also agreed. A couple of fighters can lock on - I'd pick something reasonably cheap and fast - as noted, you can't make a Baudo especially combat-worthy, so the fighter's job is 'cover me whilst I run' which means they need to be able to catch up with you again. Speed 5+ fighters are the order of the day.

Out of curiosity, I looked in the book under ships and gear and can't find where it says that it's limited to 1 of each type. I know it's out there, but I can't find it.

@EliasWindrider

It appears you can't receive messages... at least that' what it says when I try to pm you my email.

We ended up acquiring a Darvro-Class light freighter. I'm pretty excited about it, and will probably be jumping over to Rigger fairly soon (unless Fully Operational looks to have something even more enticing).

Dawn of rebellion... kst-100 is a pretty exciting ship... oh you meant spec, shipwright seems like it will be cool... I'm going to starwarsify myself as an engineer shipwright/scientist protege of Mendel baudo who interned with cec on the hwk-1000

You should change your name to EliasKST-100rider. ;)

My dream ship will be fluffed as a reingineered and rebuilt cec consular class cruiser which was statted with the ship building rules to have a base speed of 4 (or 5) raised to 5 with high output ion turbines, and a reingineered salon pod turned hyperspace capable shuttle/drop ship with stats like the kst-100.

Nice job, but theres no escape pod and I'm pretty sure no yard would design and build a ship this size without one.

I don't suppose anyone knows who the artist was for the Darvro-class light freighter in Strongholds of Resistance? I don't have the book on hand at the moment (friend is borrowing it), not that I see a signature on any of the images or anything...

You can not have multiples of the same attachment. One of the reasons why the second armor attachment in FO is a big deal.

Found out the artist, thanks to FFG Customer support: Matthew Bradbury. He appears to have an account with Epilogue.net , but thus far all of my attempts to create an account in order to contact him have failed, due to a non-existent CAPTCHA. lol

OK, pardon me , but where did you get the eight hard points as opposed to the six in fly casual.. I ask because after an absurd amount of triumph rolls and rp, one of my players managed to get one, and he is already gearing up to trick this yacht out. Also, for a ship that tries to out agile it's threats which is better, Shields or armor?
