You don`t want to know...

Pretty sure the two have nothing to do with each other. The authors of the novellas aren't designing the game, after all.
Edited by KBlumhardtI know it's a dead repeat, but it obviously needs repeating.
The authors of the novels are not the same people designing and testing scenarios. Conflating the efforts of one with the other is simply wrong.
I say more novellas and more side adventures!!!!
The reason Labyrinths is taking so long to print is because they are not printing it in house, which ends up with an inconsistent coloration and miscuts. They are printing it like it is a Mythos pack which takes longer to get in from their overseas printer, but gives a more consistent print quality and fewer miscut cards.
Edited by Somatose BoyAnd remember: the novellas aren't just for AH:LCG, even if they are coming with cards. All of the characters exist across all of the Arkham Files games. Which is pretty darn cool. I'm also super happy they've been splitting the characters between those that have been previously released and those that have not. New characters (and new twists on old ones) is great, and I didn't think we'd see the former outside of deluxe boxes.
I didn’t mean at all that reducing one would help increase the other.
I don’t like that you have to buy books to get more LCG content. Being a completionist, I would rather them not have have produced them at all.
And, I want more side quests that can slot into any campaign.

I love the characters recurring across multiple games. It allows you to build personal connections to them .
Agreed! It’s an awesome universe.

"Force" probably isn't the right word, but I'm a fellow completionist so I understand where you're coming from. However, I'm also an avid reader who enjoys a quick 'fluff' read between longer books, so I'm really enjoying the books and like getting cards tied into the stories as a bonus. I'm also deeply impatient to see some of my favorites added to the game, so getting investigators early through the books help make up slightly for the snail's pace they're being released at normally.

I understand your point, but this is a let's agree to disagree situation for me. They aren't forcing you to buy books; these are alternative investigator options (even the ones that don't exist yet are not required to play the game and are not as substantial as a scenario).
To me, I get two of my favorite things. A book, and more options for my favorite LCG. Win/win for me.
Right, you're lucky that two things you like are bundled together!
If there was Arkham LCG content, bundled with content for a game you didn't care for, or, an expensive ream of blank paper, you might feel differently.

And then we too could bring it up continuously for months on end!
I revise my earlier comment - turning this into a drinking game would be a bad idea for anyone not overtly suicidal.
Getting back to it, I would have hoped there would have been more side scenarios at this point. I especially like how you can insert them into an ongoing campaign, which we know Labyrinths of Lunacy doesn't do.
I can think of many reasons of why we don't have more, I would like more.
I would also like some more 3 scenario campaigns. In addition, if they could speed up the release schedule for the 8 scenario campaigns, that would be appreciated. The stream of fiction isn't coming quickly enough either.
I really do enjoy this game and am not joking, I would like a faster release schedule overall.

I have mixed feelings about the release schedule. Part of me thinks that a roughly monthly release schedule is very reasonable. A smaller part wants to acquire FFG and re-task the entire company to cranking out new product on a daily basis.
I can agree with the release schedule feeling slow.
I'd actually really appreciate it if they released the entire campaign at once in a big box, and then player cards in packs over time. Even if the campaigns came at the same pace, it would be nice to get them and play them all at once. But that would take away all those sales from unnecessary scenario cards, so really can't do that ![]()

Yeah, I would love it if they just released the enter cycle with all the packs at once.
While I did run the first scenario of Carcosa as a stand alone, I generally won't start a cycle unless I know that I can finish it within weeks. I will use the investigators and player cards to run older scenarios.

We do the same. We've got 2 more to finish out our current Dunwich repeat, then we're finally on to Carcosa.

LOL, I have two more to finish our Dunwich repeat as well.
The 1st one didn't end well.

I do agree with this.
I know we are not "forced" BUT as a completionist I'd love the cards but not the books.
I've always loved the idea of alt art cards because they are not of interest to me due to no change in gameplay but DO provide something nice for those interested in collecting rares. Everyone is happy. Whereas these novellas contain alt art BUT also a small amount of new unique cards.
I'm pleased for those that are happy for them, but for me is a real shame and in honesty do see if add a bit of an attempt at a money squeeze.
Shame really.
I can't afford to be a completionist. All that travelling to conventions, the cost to get in, and the event fees just to get alternate artwork on player cards. Then there's the question of extra copies of exclusive scenarios. It's either that, or paying a lot of money for anywhere from 2 to 4 cards, and pray I actually get them.

Personally, I think Alt-Art cards, which is normally what you get at events, are just nice-to-have’s. The issue many people have with the books is that this is new game content. Even scenarios that are released at conventions, or Marie Lambeau released with the big story book, have so far been, or planned to be, made available through normal retail, so it’s just a matter of waiting (when *is* Labyrinths due out?!). If you want all the unique gaming material, I personall feel that you should only have to buy Arkham Horror the Card Game products, not something ancillary that you may not have any interest in.
Apologies to those bored of this conversation, I appreciate I’m revisiting well trodden ground on what is, effectively, a moot point, as FFG are rightly going to go by the sales figures, which seem to be doing well. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though! ?
I kind of feel like this is a value proposition issue. For 15 USD, we're getting alt artwork investigator cards, new investigator specific cards and a nice hardback novella with a cool color section in the back. I feel like that's a pretty good deal. I'd probably pay $5 for just the cards without batting an eye. I'd pay $10, but be a little grumpy about it. $15 for the cards and a book is perfectly fine.
I do understand that some people assign less value to the book/cards. For these people, $15 probably feels too high. They want the cards, but usually don't want the book.
Realistically, you could probably get me to buy a ton of different things if they came with new content for this game. FFG and Kellogg team up to produce a breakfast cereal called Cthul-O's? I'd buy it and eat it if it came with new cards. Cthul-O's... now with more marshmallow tentacles!

Part of this maddening, yet we'll balanced breakfast.
