Pod vs RealAd is just deploying now.

Are we still using the 'old skool' avenger and relay rulings? pre errata?

Presumably, yes.

@Green Knight is correct. For the sake of simplicity the remainder of the tournament will be played under pre-errata rules.

ROUND 3 NORTH AMERICA MATCHUPS POSTED! FIGHT!

My apologies to all North America players in this tournament, I received the information I needed from round 2 more than a day ago but have not been able to access the computer I am running Cryodex on for personal reasons. As we are now very close to Worlds, I will be extending the time limit for the final round of the tournament indefinitely, with the request that games actually be played, so that those going to Worlds will have the opportunity to both practice sufficiently and still play their games.

As we move to the end of this tournament, it appears to have been a general success. If anyone would like to make suggestions for its next iteration, whether when to time it, any changes to rules or format, or anything else you would like to comment on, feel free to leave a note in this thread.

Pod Vs Real did conclude yesterday, it was another big defeat for me. Dont have the exact scores to hand but it finished in the 900 vs 200 ballpark.

That said, Great game, Great opponent. Looking forwards to our beer at Euros!

Bayern vs Real soon as well bud

(Oops - sorry, realised this absolutely doesn't belong in this thread... apologies all, but no idea how to move it)

Apologies for the delays… but yep the @Realadmiralsdoitinspace vs @PodRacer ended at the weekend with a rather hefty 900 v 259 win in my favour. Before a brief bat-rep, I’d just like to point out two things…

A: My dice were beyond ludicrous… seriously, I was rolling like a leprechaun Jedi-Master with twin surgically-attached rabbit’s feet (foots?) who’d OD’d on four-leaf clovers. Over the space of the game, I think there were just two times when my big ships failed to roll at least one double red.

B: As a result of that, @Podracer deserves real credit for a complete absence of salt over the course of a gaming session that hit almost 7 hours (with one break). We’ve all been there – when the dice just aren’t playing, well, dice – but to have it to such an extent… all I can say is, well played sir Pod – and I definitely owe you a Euros beer.

As for the game – I was bringing to the table a Dodonna fleet built around chucking as many red-dice and accuracies as possible, with Home One twinned with twin Liberties with Spinal and Quad Turbolasers and a pair of AF2s. For squads I had a motley crew of rogues, the a-wing twins and YT-1300s.

Poddy’s Sloane build had a couple of ISDs (BT-less Avenger and Chimera), a pair of swinging Dics and every single Tie Fighter the Empire had ever produced (well, 8 of ‘em) along with a passle of Escorts, Shuttles and Jumpmasters.

We played my Contested outpost, and I think that’s where Poddy’s problems began. With me able to set the focal point of the battle, my intention was to simply slow-roll up the field – chucking out as much accurate red artillery as possible – and that’s pretty much what happened.

With the Station on the right, pulled towards the centre a bit by a grav-shift re-route, I set up directly opposite. Poddy had the Dics opposite on the other side, ready to claim t1 victory tokens, with ISD1s set up to come in at my flank.

T1 pic5ad47dbee3f10_Turn1.jpg.b816984370a5d3c29aef0d4865bb0469.jpg

Thanks to his GR7-Xs, my entire fleet started at speed 0, so slowly eased forwards in T1, with Poddy’s mob hurtling in rather faster. Engagement began in T2, during which Poddy kept Sloane coming at speed three in the hope of doing some serious Avenging – (a decision which probably swung the contest my way). By the end of turn 2, the squads had only skirmished, while I had already started to take serious chunks out the of Dics’ hull thanks to the weapons team-d liberties (and some obscenely effective red dice rolling).

T2 pic5ad47dc029da3_Turn2.jpg.be5b3af9d1cae272bc8228f6d72d1f98.jpg

And by the end of turn three, it was pretty much all over… The Dics had repairs, so were unable to push any squads and Poddy was only able to get one of the three overload pulse crits he wanted (exhausting out all of H1’s). The Dics died hard, and Avenger fluffed it’s follow-up shot on H1, taking just one hull point and in response was hit by fire from a Liberty, Gallant Haven and Home One – with an engine-tech ram from the latter being enough to wipe out the Imperial flag-ship…

T3 Pic5ad47dc0ebb6a_turn3.jpg.322edcf8e787cbd2e017884e01e4a59c.jpg

The fat lady whales had pretty much sung… and the opera was pretty much over. As an encore, The Chimera managed to take out the flaming hulk of wreckage that was Gallant Haven, but whiffed its follow-up against the flank of the Liberty (would have needed a 100 per-cent perfect dice and a structural to kill it) so we called it a day as it was clearly not going to survive the wrath of three MC80s at medium or better range to see round five.

An arduous, but incredibly fun game… leavened slightly by my guilt at some of the ridiculous dice I was chucking. Thanks again to @PodRacer – and to @GiledPallaeon for organising the MTM – good work fella!

2nding this. I don't know who to give World Cup slots to if I don't know who won.

Didn't MTM get put on hold due to Worlds? I was under the impression there were a few games yet to finish.

I have indefinite extensions to get around Worlds. Tomorrow or the day after I’ll get everything together and push out some updates.

If you are tagged in the above post, please make an effort to schedule your game and post it here as soon as is practical if/when it will be wrapped up. Thanks a lot to everyone for participating, I hope you all had fun, and I look forward to the next iteration of this tournament.

IF I DO NOT HEAR FROM EITHER PLAYER, EITHER IN PM OR ON THIS EXACT THREAD WITHIN TWO WEEKS (MAY 22ND 2018) ABOUT THE FATE OF THE GAME, EITHER COMPLETED OR SCHEDULED, I WILL CONSIDER BOTH PLAYERS WITHDRAWN AND AWARD A 0-0 GAME!

Only European game unplayed includes an American.

Make Armada great again, nuke America.

Edit; probably need to add a caveat that this isnt a serious instruction to Kim.

That's why you have two weeks to schedule. Note that I did not say that the game had to be done in those two weeks, only that it be scheduled.

Also, related note, I was done last week. How long are you guys going?

Me and Bro will try something this week.

Finals finish this week. Ard and I are looking at possibly next Wednesday evening. Waiting on confirmation from the higher ups ;)

@GiledPallaeon

@MandalorianMoose and I will starting our game this Tuesday with an eye towards finishing Thursday if we can't get it done in one night.

Real life has been dealing me one swift kick in the nuts after another, but @Rikash is being very patient in getting this last game in. We are eying starting set up today and getting through as much as possible

I was never able to find motivation to play the game vs Broba, so I've conceded.

Sorry about that. Monster Truck was really fun, but I've completely lost interest in Armada.

That is a bummer! ?

It feels like it's pretty much a dead game by now.

To each his own and all that, but to me it feels that way.

I'm sure I'll want to play again if ever some new stuff turns up.

Interesting. I am feeling pretty low about FFG's relationship with its customers based on this experience, but I have always been the type that was willing to stick with a game without support. Wanted everyone to stick with 8th ed. or do 9th age when WHFB died. No one in my region did though so...

Anyway, I think FFG has some quite serious customer relations issues that are making me reconsider Legion (although I don't expect them to have the same problems there due to its likely success). With Armada, I am going to be content to buy the rest of what I want and play with my kids when they get old enough.

No.

Not like this.

Alright, these are the final standings as I have them. If your game was actually completed (there are only two of these), please message me and I'll update, but since top two on US and all of Europe is done, here we go.*

A tournament well-played all around, I look forward to next time.

*All MoVs were halved rounded up to get Cryodex to work for me. Luckily it was never an issue.
