Right now the L2P Guide just tells us “the unit leader is represented by a mini that has been sculpted to depict a rank insignia, pauldron, or other indicator of leadership.”

Since none of the speeders seem to have anything that set them apart as the leader, I’d say you’ll probably have to just designate one at the beginning of the game or paint one in a unique manner. But hopefully the RRG will clarify this further.

The speeder bike expansion has one biker in a different pose from the core set, and one biker in the same pose. So to me it makes sense to use the biker that is the same pose in both the expansion, and the core set as the unit leader. But as long as it is obvious to your opponent, and you are consistent, it doesn't really matter.

I'm painting a starter box for a local store's demo day. These are the two poses.

There is a third pose in the expansion pack. Instead of a trooper shooting backward the is one leaning forward.
