The problem with 6 is that your opponent can engage them and they get tied down for 3 or 4 rounds chewing through their fighters. Dengar is needed to free them up, but you need to protect Dengar with his tin foil hull, so an escort TIE advanced is needed, so 4 is the max you can use in a tourney, IMHO

Or just bring Valen. And then tie up thier fighters with Decimators!
I'm leaning towards @PT106 idea here:
Squadrons:
• Morna Kee (27)
• Dengar (20)
• 2 x VT-49 Decimator (44)
• Colonel Jendon (20)
• Darth Vader (21)
= 132 Points
Morna seems expensive, but then I witnessed @BrobaFett eat my ships with her. Also, Jendon able to dbl tap with morna or vader here seems amazing.

I'm a firesprays kinda guy, decimators are good, but firesprays suffer less draw back for cheaper... They have bomber, do the same damage versus ships but are a little bit more consistent, are NOT heavy. Same speed, roughly same hull, blue anti squad dice may actually be better considering scatters, 18 vs 22, BCC compatible...
So while I like Morna in the above list, I think we'd do better with 2 firesprays rather than 2 decimators, freeing up 8 points for us...
As I played them with some success I think that Morna and one decimator is enough. I use bosk+zetrik combo with jendon and dengar for some help. Double tap morna or wounded bosk kill Flotilla like flies:)
would Gauntlet fighters be better than Decimators, they aren't heavy, have the same number of dice versus squadrons but can actually get 4 hits, and versus ships they only can do 2 dmg but can dish out raid tokens. Sure they lose a hull but gain a speed.

They also lose counter, and 2 blue 1 red is more swingy than 3 black, so you will likely be engaged for longer. And with Dengar counter 2 is far superior to counter 1
Since @moodswing5537 pinged me to a thread about my sweet sweet Morna Kee, I can say that generic Decimators are a liability. If you want 3 black vs squads, take Valen and get the scatter brace to go with it.
Against ships in a no squad matchup 3 blue is reallly swingy. Without the rerolls from Morna, I would be doing 1 damage pretty often. And usually once or twice a game she would completely whiff and saving those rolls made a difference.
A Decimator ball is a good idea, but end of the day the lack of rerolls and suscibility to common squad superiority builds hamper it from being effective. Morna/Jendon as a component of a screen though? Still super good.
Anyway, my two thoughts.

Generally the issue I had with generic Decimators was exactly this, they hit like Wave1 fighters: no mods, for weak blue dice type damage. The issue was whether they were really worth their very high value. Obviously they do have a lot of hull and have counter, and Valen is perfect for them... but a long out-last attrition game against their HP will take a long time to kill squads. And if they're killing squads, they're not contributing with their already kinda not efficient battery against ships, so then you need to kill ships with ships.

Well, there goes THAT list...

I thought it was 33%
that would be 132 points, 6 decimators are 132 points

All the more reason for a wave 8 Imperial Toryn Farr for balance.

As much as I would love an Imperial Toryn, I think giving TIEs double swarm would be a bit rough.

Ehhh.
I'm really not fond of Toryn Farr. For reasons.
Its weird: Squads do need dice mods. Yet, it would also be nice if they generally did stuff that wasn't directly related to max efficient damage. Like I wish squadrons would flip facedown damage cards face up or something instead. Or, like Strategic, open up a new avenue of gameplay. Instead of just, who can get the most firepower unloaded on a single target better, and move on to the next.

I did a team event with him before the Rhymer nerf - we had ten Decimators firing at ships from medium range. I think that event alone settled the need to nerf Rhymer.
" I Think that one event where we played the game outside the standard rules was a good justification for nerfing a unit used in the standard game."
I really don't understand the way people think. Side note: I think the Rhymer nerf was fine too.

Are those reasons "i don't like to win at the game, I prefer making the other person feel better about themselves"? Because I could understand that reason.

Look I think she's good. She has a very interesting design limitation (staying in D1-3, blue dice are weird dice to reroll for everything except squads who benefit immensely and without exception through the entire Rebel spectrum).
But she's a huge multiplier of Worlds tip top tier 1 caliber.

You'd be a little sick of her too when you've played 30 games vs Rieekan aces over and over again, and 15-20 using Rieekan. Can't get away from her. hahaha. Actually, that's a good reason too. I've played her against new players with squads, and she makes them decidedly lose very quickly. And we lost a bunch of new recruits when the regulars decided it was a good idea to bring wave5 wave6 pre-nerf Rieekan to the first two new-player events. They didn't come back.
