Aggressive gunboats

By N'Kata, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have been looking into some untraditional list lately, and this one caught my attention:

Nu Squadron Pilot x 2
OS-1 Arsenal Loadout, Harpoon Missiles, Long Range Scanners

Sienar Specialist x 2
XX-23 S-thread Tracers, Twin Laser Turret, Lightweight Frame

I do not think it is competitive in any way, but maybe it will work ok in a casual+ game? Do you think the list will benefit from formation flying, or is it better to split the ships in some way?

It will work in casual gaming just fine. I don't know how much you would get out of the thread tracers thou. If you switched long range scanners to guidance chips, you would probably get more value out of the tracers. With that said, I like LRS on Nu's. Especially because I tend to be spread out after the first pass, and I can still get TL's with LRS

I played against a similar list, though it was Adv Slam on the Nu's.

I ended up tabling my opponent because he split his forces, and it gave me the chance to focus down the TLTs quickly while the Nu's tried to flank along the other side of the board. They move fast with 3 straight + 3 slam, but I still dropped 1 aggressor and had the other at 2 hull before the Nu's got to shoot.

I think I would've had more trouble if he had played it like Rush Hour with everything together. So take that for what it's worth.

One awkward thing is that XX-23 S-Thread Tracers won't bypass the restriction on Long Range Scanners that you can't take a TL at range 1-2. Anyhow, it's a 4-ship generic list with all solid ships; should do at least OK.

Yeah, if you're going to use tracers on the Aggressors, then I'd go for chips on the Nus
