When you go against Nymranda, where do you start?

By Mpori, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys! Going to a tourney where meta players are more frequent, so wanted to ask you for super generic advise (not just regarding list building) against the H6/K Wing combo that's been doiminating for some time 'til now.

I'm planning to take the center, or near there, an then flying there like the fans of a windmill... I mean, I'm going to be chasing my own ships, they're 3, one an other, in a very tight circle/elipse, thus trying to negate any opportunity for Nym to start a chase upon me and wait while circling to take down Miranda first.

What have you proved useful, regardless the faction, number of ships or shenanigans to specific?

It depends on what you are flying?

But the biggest key is to burn down one of them as fast as possible. I personally prefer Miranda. Because she can regen. And the slam lets her be more mobile. Not that Nym isn't dangerous, he's probably the more deadly of the 2, but in the end game, it's just much harder to kill her off.

Are you flying turrets? So that you can circle like that?

Hi Biggs...

Certainly I'm considering this concept, have blown Miranda with it , but haven't won so far... Yet.

Falcon 8 (100/100)
====================
Norra Wexley + Trick Shot + Finn + Alliance Overhaul (34)
Shara Bey + Trick Shot + M9-G8 + Weapons Engineer + Alliance Overhaul (34)
Jan Ors + Veteran Instincts + Twin Laser Turret (32)
AXH-510 (100/100)
================
Norra Wexley + Trick Shot + R2-D2 + Finn + Alliance Overhaul (38)
Jan Ors + Trick Shot + Twin Laser Turret (31)
Jess Pava + R5-P9 + Targeting Synchronizer (31)
ABH-477 (100/100)
================
Norra Wexley + Trick Shot + R2-D2 + Finn + Alliance Overhaul (38)
Jan Ors + Trick Shot + Twin Laser Turret + Pulsed Ray Shield (33)
Crimson Squadron Pilot + Targeting Synchronizer + Tactical Jammer (29)
I have proved the Falcon 8 but not with this tactic in mind. Since there are some options to iterate the main concept of the list, I'm inclined to try this time the ABH-477... But still looking for advise, mainly regarding flying against those two.

Large Base blocking can go a long way to take one of them down. But to do it you need a blocker with enough health to sustain a couple bombs, and at least 2 wingmen to burn down whichever target you are bumping. A bumper with the stall action works great.

I'm not sure if that is where you are going with the CSP in the ABH-477 list, but that is how I would run that one.

I'll fan out my rainbow TIE/D Deltas, maybe around range 2 apart, but nothing really exact. Depends on the rocks. I'll try to collapse on Nym (or Miranda, but I've gone for Nym first so far). I don't really want to get too close together until I've got him Ion'd so that I don't get too wrecked by bombs or opening Harpoons, but I still want all my guns on Nym first round of the engagement.

Imp'Officer That's exactly my intention of using the B/Sf... As big blocker and a more durable TL platform for Norra... But I'm not that hot when moving around big ships... But since I just got the R Bomber perhaps I'd give a try but not for the tourney...

theBitterFig... I'd been considering to exchange Jan's turret for the Ion one since I'd read a lot of how useful is it against bomber... Is it that great? I mean, to replace TLT for Ion turret... Got any strategy to hunt down Nym?

Or perhaps I should drop it and go Fenn/Ghost... Wanted to give a shot to my old list but... Think I'm going to switch to counter meta with meta...

Burn down Nym; 1 green dice. Then chase Miranda around the board. If you do it the other way around, you're still chasing Miranda around the board, but you have Nym picking on you as well. He's fragile, kill him.
