Could Scum Aces be a thing?

I’ve been doodling lists, and wanting to use my pretty repainted Protectorates and I’ve stumbled across this...

It’s got a decent bid incase I want Thweek to shadow anyone, it’s got Old Teroch to counter those pesky X-7s that are enjoying a resurgence and it’s got Fenn Rau, because he’s Fenn Rau. The Starfighter title helps me in R1 of Ghosts if I’m caught in a bad spot. Lots of modded attacks, lots of defence if I can get to range one...

Do you think it’s competetive if I can fly it? Which obstacles would you choose and why? What would you use to counter it?

I've been toying with a very similar list except with Price Xizor instead of Thweek for the higher Pilot Skill.

Haven't managed to get it on the table yet so I'm looking forward to people's input.

Edit: although I had had forgotten that Thweek could copy PS as well as pilot ability. Definitely changing to Thweek.

Hrm. I wonder if the thing holding back Scum aces is that they have Torpedo instead of Missile slots most of the time. The most successful Imperial aces fall into two camps right now. One is Palp Aces (which Scum can't really replicate) and one is missile aces (Vader, QD, 3rd ship). Protectorates and Starvipers can only take Torpedos, but Torpedos are behind significantly behind in Power Creep compared to Missiles. Meanwhile, Kihraxz aren't quite hard or cheap enough. 2 Agility, 5 HP, no Evade tokens isn't very sturdy, but Talonbane isn't low enough in points even with Vaksai to really get there.

If there were a good-enough Torpedo, going Fenn + Torp, Thweek, Guri or Xizor + Torp, N'Dru + Missile could probably be pretty solid.

I'm taking Guri and Fenn mindlinked with fearlessness talonbane to my next event and I'm excited for it.

I know it's not tip-top competitive, but it should give gunboats fits which I will enjoy. Plus 14 dice at range 1 is enough to scare any Ghost.

I’ve been playing ptl protectorates quite a bit. It is not bad, but it is very unforgiving and one unlucky crit can put you in really bad spot.

On the other hand it is blast to fly and can win hard uphill battles. I recommend to fly Fenn and Teroch close to each other. Isolate the target and destroy it fast :)

I don’t play Starvipers so I have little to say there.

That‘s an average of 7-3-1=2 hits, because you can‘t modify and sensor jammer takes one each away, and he‘ll have an evade ;P

I love flying aces, but it‘s not easy at the moment. How do you handle GhostFenn? TimewalkAsajj? HighPS alphastrikes at PS11? Bombs? 3-4 wookies? 3bqd? RAClo and Inq/QD/Vader? Plotarmor?

Attanni allows double focus on both Guri and Fenn, and glitterstim on Talonbane. Fenn will counter my Fenn's attack and nothing more.

I like the approach. But it won't be competitive unless you really are a master - it's so unforgiving.

I think with Attanni this could be valid vs the Ghost meta if you kill the Rebel Fenn quickly, but with PTL I feel you do not have enough focus tokens. Sounds sad, I know.

This may give you the damage output you need while still being an aces list.

nice list, it's weak vs stress buildings but you have good chances vs anything else

It’s one that one of my squad mates has flown. No extra munitions but contraband cybernetics on Thweek.
