Small Rebel Capital Ship?

By Andreievitch, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

In my last game the Imps invaded the PC's Rebel base and they had to flee. I asked the players where they would like to see the nest part of the campaign go and they mentioned they would like a mobile base, that they can launch their YT-2400 from.

I am struggling to find a decent capital ship that doens't have hundreds of crew. The YT-2400 doesn't need to dock inside, a docking connection is fine. Any suggestions? It doesn't need to be a "Rebel" ship, it can be any type of capital ship, but definable not an Imperial ship. I was hoping for maybe max 30 crew?

165 crew > 30

Looking for something smaller, even if not in a rule book. Happy to make it up but would like a start point.

Not quite what you wanted, but our (EotE) crew has ended up with an HT-2200, with a HWK-290 in a retrofitted Hangar Bay. HT-2200 is a pretty **** ship in some ways, but huge independent cargo bays and tiny crew are pretty special.

The Consular -Class Light Assault Cruiser and the Gozanti -Class Armed Transport would both seem to fit your needs.

This is the smallest capital ship.

C-ROC seems closest that I've found, has external docking capabilities, only requires 12 crew (and 6 of those are gunners). Not a capital ship, of course, but seems to check your other boxes. Pretty cheap, too.

Wayfarers aren’t capital ships, but have big cargo holds.

Minstrel class... has a hanger which can accomodate 2 shuttles a 6 fighters iirc. So that should be large enough to take their 2400

...

Apparently a built in hanger can accommdate more than a retrofit hanger can.

Alternatively is an interceptor IV (flatline and brilliance)

You can get a deckplan for the consular off of colonial chrome web site.

I think what might help is if Andreievitch could provide what they're defining a "capital ship" as.

If it's anything that's Silhouette 5 or bigger, than the Consular-class refit from the AoR core rulebook would probably fit the bill. It's not an awesome combat ship and won't be able to go toe-to-toe with purpose-built combat vessels for very long, but for a small group of Rebel PCs, it's a pretty nice ride.

Maybe find some deactivate clone wars battle droids ?

In Episode 3, didn't a newly minted Vader send a "shut down " order to the CIS army? You could "accidentally" find a ship full of them.

(Recusant-class, Munificent-class, Lucrehulk?)

Or even an old base, like the Rebel crew did. :)

Gallofree GR-75

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, I understand I should not have said "capitali ship" and instead mentioned any ship with Sil 6+

I am actually leaning towards the Temple Class from Perlemian Haul. I haven't run that game for my players, and it could fit in nicely, and they could end up with the ship! It has 50 crew "including the captain, executive officer, six bridge crew, six engineers, one surgeon, one corpsman, fourteen crew, and twenty navy troopers acting as security." That sounds pretty ideal as they have a YT-2400 so it can dock with that.

However, they also have some Hutt enemies, and a Hutt ally, so the apprehending a Minstrel is tempting...

As the gm you can also just change things.

Star Wars capships do tend to be overcrewed in much the same way most vehicles are oversized.

Here's what you do. Take the standard CR90 Corvette, scratch out 165, and write in 30. Voila, done. It's your game, make it what you want. Call is a CR85 Corvette or something.

If you need some fluff to justify it, in previous incarnations of the role playing game (WEG specifically) the corvette was specifically mentioned as being highly customizable, often made to order. Crew was listed I think as between 10 and 200 or something. Don't have the books handy and haven't read them in years, but that doesn't matter. This ship is customized, and has a smaller crew requirement.

Don't get hung up on the stat blocks, make what you want.

Heard there's a Hammerhead in Dawn of Rebellion.

Looking forward to seeing it...when the book finally arrives in Australia.

The Hammerhead is a silhouette 5 ship though so it might be too small for what you're looking for.

I pre-ordered mine from Milsims. It is now listed as "Backorder". 3 emails to them over the past week and no word at all if my copy has been sent :(

I will not be ordering from them again.

Spoke too soon. Order fulfilled today and will be posted! Can't wait.

Out of curiosity, does it come in an australian edition that is already printed upside down or do you need to flip the us version manually to read it down there?

No idea, I was standing in line for the swedish edition (Dawn of Huuduubuduu-borkborkbork) when I was mauled by a polar bear. I hear that one is slightly cheaper though, but you need to assemble it yourself.
