Canon Material still needed in X-wing

By Snaves146, in X-Wing

So I know there are many threads like this, but I will be limiting this one to strictly Canon material that we have seen in Movies, Cartoons, Novels, Video Games and Comics throughout the Mouse's takeover of the Star Wars franchise. Luckily we have finally gotten some more material from Rogue One in the form of Wave 14 (AKA Wave 13 if you really think about it) but there is still more we could get. So heres my list of material that I think and you guys can judge me or curse me all you want, haha.

Starting with movies, we will again start with Rogue One:

I love the addition of Saw and his Partisans, but we still need the Heroic General Antoc Merrick and Blue Squadron which consisted of three different ships in the X-Wing, U-Wing and Y-Wing. We could also pull 2 new Rebel Epic ships from Rogue one in the form the Hammerhead Corvette which would be a good missile platform for the Rebel epic scene and the Braha'tok Gunship would be a great Anti-Fighter ship which the Rebels are sorely lacking. Unfortunately I can't think of any Imperial assets that could be utilized unless we want to do another Tie Fighter Expansion that brings in the Scarif, Eadu, and Jedha patrols or Krennics shuttle.

Moving on to LTJ, again all I can think of is the RZ-2 A-Wing from the beginning of the movie and bringing in Tallie Lintra and whoever else they can come up with, and maybe the shuttle that Finn and Rose stole when escaping the First Order to get to Crait.

So that is all I have for movies unless people want me to go into the Prequels which I doubt, haha.

Next up is Rebels which still has a wealth of material and in my mind now has the most material to give us since we got more Rogue One material. Main thing I want is Phoenix squadron A-wings and X-wings in the different paint schemes for both fighters. A new YT-2400 with the Iron Squadron crew as pilots and crew cards and the Sentinel Class shuttle for the Empire and for Scum with Hondo and his crew as pilots. We could also do new Y-wing pilots in the form of Sabine, Zeb, and Ezra, along with the other members of gold squadron shown when the Ghost crew is saving Mon Mothma, and throw in the Defender pilot who's name escapes me right now....

Moving onto Novels, my personal favorite right now is Tarkin which is based on the early Tarkins life and recent management of Death Star materials. The thing I personally want the most from this is the Carrion Spike which was Tarkin's Personal Corvette before he took command of the Sovereign, and this could bring in some interesting new mechanics because this ship could cloak and could scramble other ships sensors making it harder to hit. Another thing I would like to see is the addition of V-wing into the Imperial faction and bringing Tarkin in as a pilot. It could also bring in some new Z-95 and Y-Wing pilots into the Rebel faction if you consider the Antagonists in this movie to be true rebels.

Next one up is Lost Stars, from this we have another wealth of pilots for both the Rebels and Imperials. First and foremost is Ciena Ree, who is a pilot that I have grown to love within this universe and would be a great edition to the Imperial Interceptor ranks along with Nash Windrider who I believe flew both a TIE fighter and Interceptor but would be a nice fit in either one of them. One we already have is Thane Kyrell, but we could use him in an X-wing along with the rest of Corona Squadron.

For video games, there is really only two things we need in the form of Inferno Squadron for the Empire, then Danger Squadron for the Rebellion with appropriate Iden and Del pilots.

For comics there are a bunch of things, one would be Evaan Verlaine as a Y-Wing pilot from the Leia comic, Lulo Lampar as an A-Wing Pilot from the Poe Dameron comic and there are honestly too many more to list from the comics but if anyone else knows of any feel free to add them.

So this is my start and if we talk about who and why we want them in the game and ways the developers could add them maybe... juuusssttt maybe they will add them like they did the Gunboat after such a long thread.

You forgot the Imperial Dropship from Rebels.

But I swear, if they make it a Rebel ship just because Sabine was flying one in the latest episode...

The Gauntlet is another ship from Rebels that would be great to get.

Just to argue semantics, the Sentinel should actually be counted as coming from ANH and is the only OT ship in scale that has yet to be added to the game. I'm hoping that with Rebels ending here soon they will finally release it with Thrawn and other Imperial Rebels characters. Heck, maybe they will do one big Rebels themed wave for wave 15 or 16.

Mining Guild Tie for Scum with cards to make ties better and work on all Ties, but work best on Empire Ties.

Tie Defender Elite. The only reason we'll see it is to put Ezra/Sabine in it and give rebels more of imperials stuff.

The Gauntlet would be good but it would be more Rebel, maybe a Maul scum but just more rebel.

I'd really like to see a bunch of Imperial crew. There have been a lot of Imperial Commanders worth adding to the game besides Kallus. Rohk, Seventh Sister, Fifth Brother, Pryce, Thrawn, etc.

Really begs the question whether the market favors more ships or upping the potency of already existing ships. Given the excitement with the Reaper and the Gunboat (not to mention all the people asking for N1s) I would say more people want new ships. The X-Wing "fix" (sorry, I want to believe but I have been burned before) that is coming is an exception and not the rule to the desire for revamped ships. Another exception would be a fix for imperial swarms.

That being said, I always assume there will be no X-Wing 2.0 and instead there will just be power creep to change the game. I also assume that FFG is keeping some "Fan Favorite" ideas on the table in case something bad happens that ticks off the consumer.

Well, some people have gotten ahold of the book for the Rebels/R1 time period for the RPGs a little ahead of release and indicated it has stats for TIE/MG.

Given that Saw's Renegades is Rebel though, despite the fact that most of them act outside orders from Rebel Command and directly endangered or worked other rebel characters, I wouldn't wonder if the TIE/MG wouldn't also just be Imperial?

Seriously. We get Sabine’s TIE but no Mining Guild TIE? I’d love to see them in the game. It’d be cool to have the same ship playable in all three factions.

I really want to like your post because you put so much work into it, but I can't because of how much I disagree with this. What, we'd get Iron Squadron, from one single Rebels episode, before the V-19 Torrent, the star of at least 10 or 20 Clone Wars episodes?

Absolutely yes to both. Also, there's Grakkus the Hutt, Scar Squadron, Dr. Aphra, 0-0-0, BT-1, Black Krrsantan, a number of Rogue One characters who were given backstories in the comics, and the Ark Angel. Also, Darth Vader technically joins the Scum faction in part the comics, but a lot of people would be bugged by that. So it's best to do that by having Imperial Ark Angel pilots, which also helps out the Empire a little when it comes to large ships.

This is absolutely my thoughts on the TIE/MG. The Mining Guild is a subfaction of the Empire (not just Imperial contractors, but an actual subsidiary company of the Empire). Sorry, triple-faction-TIE Fighter fans, but there's no lore justification for a scum TIE Fighter. I understand why you want it for the game, but the actual Rebels episode doesn't justify it.

I’m not much into SW canon, but saw this From Wookipedia: “

After being rejected by the Bounty Hunters' Guild and the Grand Hutt Council , General Davits Draven of the Alliance wrote to Senator Mon Mothma about being potential allies with the Mining Guild, claiming, that while the Mining Guild operated under the Empire, it was more of a convenient relationship, not an ideological one.”

Sounds like a lot of those who fall under the scum faction in the game.

There's certainly enough Mandalorian pilots to fill out a Scum roster, what with Maul and Bo-Katan in the show. Then, like how the Lancer brought Ventress into the game, I could see some Clone Wars characters like Pre Vizla or some characters from a short run Maul comic (like a young Gar Saxon and Rook Kast) to fill out Scum crew and pilots.

That said, I think the Gauntlet is a good candidate for duel factions or even being a tri-faction ship.

Also on the same Wookieepedia page “The Mining Guild was a network of miners operating in concert with the Galactic Empire” and “Affiliation Galactic Empire” compare this to Boba Fett:

“Affiliation(s)

Confederacy of Independent Systems

Boba Fett's syndicate

Hutt Clan

Galactic Empire”

Hands off our precious TIEs Scum players!

To Hades with that, I want K-2SO and the fly Imperial Space Turtle, dammit

I'd personally love to see more prequel ships in the game, like the ETA-2, Tri-fighter, V-wing and so on. I'd love to see new mechanics for Clones (duplicate named pilots) and droids (lower PS for every stress/ion token, cannot remove stress tokens).

It more like "If you are out of combat range, remove all focus and blue target lock tokens from all friendly ships". Their presence on the Super Bat-Wing alerted the FO to the rebel's plan, single-handedly (four-handedly?) ending the resistance movement.

The Gauntlet, made to true scale, has an enormous wingspan. It's essentially got more table presence than the Ghost. I'd personally love it, but nobody will be happy with a $75 USD price tag on what is essentially an Epic ship.

Assault shuttle and stormtrooper transport from TIE Fighter still need to happen. I’d quite like the Lambda and Delta shuttles with Rebel and Scum variants as I feel they should be ubiquitous designs.

While it would be cool to see a ship playable across all three factions, I have to agree that a scum TIE Fighter is a bad idea. Not for flavor reasons, since Scum should really be able to fly anything they can get their hands on, but rather because Scum already has two cheap swarm fodder ships and giving them a TIE as well adds nothing substantive to the faction. Flavor is nice but I'd rather see some new things, and only cross-platform ships when it actually helps flesh out a faction.

I know we're getting Krennic in the TiE Reaper (and I am stoked as **** for that ship), but the T3c Delta-class shuttle scratches all my itches. As this Shuttle basically is a Lambda in-universe in all but looks, it could also give us some interesting new stuff for our Space Cow (much like Saw will also bring us a U-Wing).

I absolutely adore the idea of a Hammerhead as an Epic ship. I don't know a single person who didn't enjoy that ramming maneuver, these could be the be-all-end-all eye catchers on the epic tables. The TLJ A-Wing is still pretty much a given, I think, but the Zeta-Class transport shuttles in Rogue One would need some very specific niche to fill to make the list- even though they look amazing, they really aren't meant for combat. Maybe we could get them as a second short epic for the empire- these things are double the length of the Ghost, not that far off the GR-75.

Battlefront 2 of course gave us the idea of the Inferno Squad TiE-Fighter, and while we don't need another TiE/ln, these aren't exactly standard, so maybe there's something to be had here.

But the biggest potential is undoubtedly in the novel Tarkin. Tarking in the V-Wing is awesome on its own, but Darth Vader piloted a black ETA-2 Actis in the novel!

Yes the Iron Squadron was only in one episode of Rebels, but how many times did we see the Inquisitor fly his Advanced prototype in Season 1? I threw the Iron Squadron idea out there because I love thematic list and it would bring those characters in as crew and add a new YT-2400 and X-Wing pilot in the form of Mart Matten and his crew plus a new astromech R3-A3. Could do a title for them as well called Sato's Hammer: If you have Rigged Cargo Chute equipped you may put 2 ordnance tokens on it and may launch them out of its front guides with the speed 3 straight template. 4 points.

Whole heartedly agree with you that Darth Vader in the Eta-2 would be awesome but I don't think many others besides Jedi flew them because of how finnicky they were but who knows. If they did a Clone Wars version of X-Wing we would definitely see it with Anakin and Obi-Wan as pilots plus other Jedi.

I wouldn't say nobody.

Besides, I've long advocated for using a different scale on the Gauntlet to tone down its size.

I'm skeptical of material on the wiki, given we have this from on-screen in Empire Strikes Back:

LANDO: So you see, since we're a small operation, we don't fall into the... uh... jurisdiction of the Empire.
LEIA: So you're part of the mining guild then?

LANDO: No, not actually. Our operation is small enough not to be noticed... which is advantageous for everybody since our customers are anxious to avoid attracting attention to themselves.

...adding emphasis, there, but pretty clearly the Mining Guild is not part of the Empire. Otherwise, Leia's question makes no sense. If someone said 'I'm not under the jurisdiction of the US' you wouldn't reply with 'so you're part of Pennsylvania, then?', would you?

Also DJ's ship - it's pretty big, but should still fit in the scale of the game.
