Sato GR75s

By The Jabbawookie, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Based on a deceptively mean list I've flown against twice. The GR75s use a Con Fire for two black dice starting from long range; the CR90 should be able to do the same thing for three. Contested Outpost is there to bait. Would switching to Opening Salvo be smart? It would boost the transports, but make them more vulnerable to getting popped at long range. Intel seems like another tempting addition...

Name: Doom... Olives?
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Commander Sato

Assault: Most Wanted
Defense: Contested Outpost
Navigation: Solar Corona

GR-75 Combat Retrofits (24)

IMHO It looks good till it gets to the sqd component.

Where you have included both HAN and HERA. I mean if it works for you, it works. But so many points in 2 sqds just, yuck :)

Also if wedge is there, wheres dutch?

Like if you take out wedge, han and HERA, you can get 4 YT1300s and jan, a stupidly strong antisquad force for what it is. Run that alongside toryn for fun.

I also have a problem against all unique sqd lists.

Id rather run mon mothma, or craken, or with that many ships garm would be good. Commander leia would also be good. Sato is.... not optional IMO as, sure your firing blacks at long range but theres no upgrades like ACM or APT your trying to trigger, so black dice instead of blue is just trying to get more dam. But you dont have a way to reroll blacks.

But i mean thats my opinion only, if you like doing that go ahead im not gonna stop you ^_^

Cracken

At least no one can complain your flotillas are there for padding.

The issue with running anyone other than Sato is that average damage is lowered from 2 with a ceiling of 4 to 1.5 with a ceiling of 2. At which point I should really consider running different ships. Dropping 2 transports and the CR90 would allow an Admo scout frigate... Perhaps that would provide a more direct punch?

Han can probably go, perhaps in exchange for Corran? He saves a few points and seems decent at staying out of trouble...

Sato: to get a damage roof of 4 with an average of 2 you need red or black dice.

Black dont have an ACC so with 2 black dice your gonna get defense tokened. So 2 av dam goes to 1. Plus apart from cf token, no reroll opportunities.

Red seems to have all blank faces -_- at least you have a chance of rolling an acc but reroll problems as well

2 Blue dice has a great chance of rolling a damage or crit and a acc, especially with toryn and cf rerolls

With only 2 dice, i say stick with blue and change your admiral. If you were rolling 3+ dice (i.e. cr90s front arc where you change the w red to a black) i can see sato being good, but not in this situation.

You dont need to eun different ships. I just dont see you needing sato specifically.

Honestly IMO you want Leia, so you get rerolls and add dice from your CF commands. Crackens my second choice but i means theyre flotillas :P

Han = 2 YT1300s.

I cant stress this enough.

If you go with anyone else but Sato this list would make no sense. Even if the floats shoot 2 blues that means a stable 1 damage in the best case. If it rolls double hit or hit-crit, it's braced back to 1. If it rolls an acc, it rolls only a maximum of 1 damage on the other die which can't be redirected. Big deal.

Same with Sato: the averwge dmg is the same with the max output of a standard double blue. With a hit-blank it still stands where it would be with a blue hit-acc. But there is a potential of 4 damage from multiple ships. Even if it is braced, it will hurt.

Did I mention thst Sato can play safe and replace only one blue die with black? :P

This was pretty much my exact train of thought. Defense tokens are less of a problem when you have more ships than they have tokens. The most effective token here is the Evade; the others don’t do much. Sato can’t play it safe though; the second die is from a CF. Banking a CF token round one could help... If I don’t use Sato, I really may as well go DCaps Gozantis and double arc for one point cheaper. Which seems crazy... the question is whether this list has already crossed that line. :P

Don't take out Han and Hera. Play a few games with them. They are a lot of fun. Han is especially strong if you can keep him from getting jumped. That's what Shara Bey is there for.

Sato happens before you roll, and CF happens after and it must be a die in the attack pool. So you can only have 2 blacks or 2 blues.
