Have all the characters from the new Street Fighter set been revealed? I could only find Dhalsim, Guile, and Chun-Li. I know that there are supposed to be another 7.

Bleh. Just what the game needs another Alex. Promo Alex is great. How about some love for the fans of characters who don't already have a character card that's widely considered to be the best off of one of their symbols and has a 4-point shuriken.Ukyo, Ibuki, Nakoruru (Not to say I don't love her), Akuma and Alex have already HAD their turns at being outstanding... Not to mention Zhao-what's-her-face and Zi Mei, who I guarantee you aren't anyone's favorite characters out there. How about we have a top tier Sakura (PLEASE), Lilith or a top-tier Dudley or some character that hasn't already had a chance to shine get printed at some kind of decent power level instead of reprinting characters who already have an AMAZING character card. Moreover there's an OUTSTANDING Bison promo out there too with a 4 point shuriken... And a great promo Basara, and a great Terry... who just came out last set!

I'm getting so fed up with designer favorites getting all the love in UFS. It's not fan-favorites either. It's the designer's favorites.

How many Capcom games has Alex been in? 5. (Counting CFJ and TvC)

How many has Sakura been in? 15. (Counting CFJ)

How many Character cards does Alex have in the game right now with this coming set? 4.

How many does Sakura have? 4.

How many of those are block 3? 1 For Sakura. 2 for Alex.

How many awesome character-only attacks that are an extremely sought after card for their great control check, abilities, and being a throw does Alex have? I think everyone knows that. As well as how many character-only attacks (of any kind) that Sakura got.

So inspite being a more popular character amongst Capcom, and amongst the fans (appearantly... they voted her into SF4 over Alex after all), and being in three times the number of games, she gets half a sheet of support in her last set and hasn't had a promo in years... Of course the game needs another Alex.

Yeah Sakura is hot and all that, so you'd think from a merketting perspective she'd be the hotter choice to have in a set, right?

Consider the thoughts that no one new is buying in to the game, and that a Sakura really wouldn't push sales amongst existing players, vs. how much we all have a uber love fest for how hawt promo alex is.

also there won't be a legal alex, post march 09, were it not for this rumoured Alex, and there WILL be a legal Sakura.

Consider also that maybe it was a forced decision from Capcom.

Sorry things can't be done exactly as you want them all the time.

I'd be patient if there were a character out presently that I liked decently... that was actually playable at high levels of competition without a $300 deck behind them. Sadly... there's not. And I've been putting up with it for too long for my taste. I don't get a chance to play aside from tournaments, and there are some very competitive players in my meta with very strong decks. So for me the choice falls between losing, or playing a character I don't like.

If I recall the tag line of the game says 'Your favorite video game characters' not 'video game characters you don't give a flying crap about'.

Alex is officially the main character of Street Fighter. In March 09, he will have no legal support cards. Yes, ***Alex*** will still exist, and may quite possibly remain the top tier All and Fire character, but again, he will have no support. That's why he's coming back.

Sakura is top tier. She's top 8'd a lot of events, and will next do as well next block.

We are getting new characters. Elena, Hugo, Remy, etc, etc, etc, as well as characters we haven't seen in forever (T Hawk, R Mika, Nakoruru, etc). Not everybody's going to be pleased. You just gotta wait. Remember FFG's mission statement, "If you're waiting to the point where you wanna quit, then our objective has been reached!"

Of course a skilled player used her and placed well when he was in possession of $300 (more like $500 at the time) did well. That's the skill of the player and the power of the rest of the cards in the deck. Sakura is honestly a detriment, and was likely replacing Alex to dodge diversity. I'll just say that I can run Sakura and lose with a deck I've probably poured nearly $100 into, and that's discounting the trades I made for TYPFG's (at their prime)... Or I can run a promo Guy deck, where the most expensive card in it is Olcadan's Mentoring, and I win most every tournament, and place second in those I don't win.

Also Alex DOES still have support. He's one of the few characters in his set that does. Fight for the Future was one of those sets like the first Darkstalkers that was given some three-point and some four-point shuriken. To name a few Impressive Physique, Grappling Gloves, Slash Elbow and Undefeated... are all Block 3 legal. Infact he only has 4 less Block 3 non-character cards with his likeness on them than Sakura.

So, wait, Sakura is the only character you like between Street Fighter, SoulCalibur, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, and Darkstalkers?

Naw, I like Lilith... Terrible. Just terrible. Her normal version is a bad victor and her promo is a bad Akuma. I like Kilik... His new version BALLS. I wouldn't cut that card up and use it as a deck box for worry the suck would rub off on my other cards. I like Ukyo a bit, he's been on the verge of rotating for such a long time I never bothered to run him. I like Mina... of course by the time I can play her because 8 HS characters won't get reamed by Absurd... I won't be able to play her anymore. And that's totally glazing over her TERRIBLE abilities. The only thing they even vaguely synergize with is like... Come to the Aid. I like Talbain, but his new version's ability is too much of a double-edged sword, and his hand size becoming 9 again means absurd ruins him. Also Alex gets a 9 hand size EVERY turn, but with none of the downfalls of a 9 hand size. WIth Olcadan, chester, KFT and preventing the curse (all on All) you don't have to worry about Armored Defense, Tough Outer Shell or Tag Along. I kinda like Nakoruru, but again, it's 8HS, and low vitality. Pretty amazing control, but again, I've been staying away from rotating characters. Talim's okay, but doesn't really stack up to new Adon for her speed pump, and I'd rather have Adon's symbols for defense. Namely Water. Also having water means his ability is as good as a free E with shinobi around. Makoto is cool, but is so easy to counter it's not even funny. She's a one-trick pony and her one trick isn't even that amazing.

All said though, those characters are fine, fun and good, but Sakura is my favorite fighting game character period and it woudl frustrate still if she was the only sub-par character I liked. Honestly the whole reason I got into the game in the first place was because I could play Sakura, otherwise I'd have shyed away from it until she was released, so it's not very fun to have the developers decide that I should have to have a playset of BRT to play her and win tournaments consistantly, and even then there would be other characters that wouldn't need to work as hard for it.

also, try Talim off Good. Which Adon doesn't have. And is much better for what it sounds like you want to do. especially since you keep flip-flopping between thinking Block 2 vs. thinking about Block 3 (all this talk of rotating characters). protip: ::Adon:: won't have shinobi much longer.

and ::Sakura:: is friggin' amazing. Easily a tier 1 character right now. The only threat to her ability is Tag Along.

Agreed, Sakura:: is amazing. She stands next to Mai as the best recursion character in the game. I've seen many a player do extremely well with her in tournaments (she placed joint First in our Water patch tournament with Ukyo). She can play cards like Tough Outer Shell and not be phased by them whatsoever.

I'm currently playing a Talim:: deck that uses unorthadox methods of kill like multiple Savage Fighter'd attacks or a Fight Or Flight'd Diving Wind Kick Throw (purely because I think this card is extremely underrun) and so far, she's proven to be doing really well. Combining her with Wind Dance proves to end up being almost faster than Adon without requiring any momentum.

If you're worried about not being able to play characters you like in order to win, why not make or suggest a tournament that involves the "less than top-tier" characters? I've done that for my latest ladder event in order to shake things up a little and force people out of their comfort zone, as quite frankly, I'm quite sick of seeing Hanzo, Ibuki Alex etc too. I took 24 characters which are decent but underplayed, like Kilik, Siegfried, Mignon, Juli etc and shuffled them up. I then dealt them out to each player and said that the character they recieved was the character they were playing. I've had many people turn round and say "actually, this characters really good and really fun" and that they've "had to think about what they were doing with a new playstyle", which is what I set out to achieve.

I think its fair enough that you don't like having to play characters you don't want to, but why not open your mind a little to characters you might like as much as Sakura that you would consider to be slightly better. Yuri is a good example. She might as well be Sakura after all. Morrigan IS Lilith's other half, and when the new Billy comes out, he'll be pretty similar in appearance and fighting style to Kilik. Also, Promo Ukyo is delicious, if he's your thing Try new things, you might find you end up liking their video-game counterpart more if you do.

To put it simple: I can feel Pandas pain because a lot of characters getting reprinted even though it's not necessary (I'm still waiting for a new Dudley or Necro...). Look at characters like Ryu, Cammy and Chun-Li for example...

Consider also that maybe it was a forced decision from Capcom.

Like hell, what kind of company would be that stupid making a deal that would force them to use the license like the licensor want to? I for one wouldn't sign such a contract... (or something like this)..

Sakura*** was a top tier character back in the day, she won our Foundations of Power. Really disgusting with Leaping Commando Kick. Now she is good (going to rotate soon, though), but I'd say the starter one is even better. M. Bison* was in my opinion a total NPE at that time too, due to You Will not Escape.

Both Liliths aren't bad as well.

maybe their haven't been as many sakuras as you would like but sakura4 is amazing! play her in your water event if it hasn't hapened already and you will see how great she is.

I think the starter Sakura will be a deck to look for she was nuts in block 2 and resource spread is great .

As for the OP: My favorite Soul Callibre character is Maxi. He doesn't have a good character card and there's like three of them. Plus he's in every SC game (even Soul Edge or whatever it's called). PLUS he's gone come block 3.

My favorite character in KoF is Chris. He doesn't even have a card, nor any cards with him on them.

My favorite character in SF is Ken. Apart from the new Promo, NONE of his toons have been top tier since Maelstrom Ken what? Two-three years ago?

My favorite character in Samurai Showdown is Nakaruru. In like a week or whenever they're dumb rotation rules kick in, she won't have a legal character.

Oh yeah, by the way Sakura top 8'ed at like every major event in the States last year if I remember right. And if yer argument is that: "Well the deck was $800" let me ask you this: If I made a full block 2 legal deck back when Cutting Edge came out (so Addes and Revitalize were still around) and made the starting character uhh... Dudley or Ivy, do you think I'd do well?
