It occurs to me that most power lists that seemingly come out of nowhere require a "wrench" to accepted thinking. For example, the accepted thinking is, "Stress is bad. Stress is therefore a meaningful drawback to something powerful."
And then ... wrench . Dengaroo. "Oh, Overclocked R4. And you think that I'll be stressed, so I won't have focus tokens? Yeah, no."
The Mod slot is too good to give up to Countermeasures because either (1) too many points for a discard, or (2) Engine is better.
And then ... wrench .
TLT is great, but nobody is going to give up a native 4-die attack and 18 points sitting in cargo to TLT one extra time.
Wrench.
It almost seems like the place to start looking for the next revolutionary power list is that one card that nobody can imagine being good enough. If you can identify that one card, then build completely around the box of accepted thinking about that one card, you can be a great list-builder. Maybe a one-hit wonder, but hey ... "Come On Eileen" is a phenomenal song.
(Me? I can't do it. My brain goes naturally, for whatever reason, toward seeing how things were designed to work ... not how they can work when they're super-charged, nor what can super-charge them. I'm quick on the uptake once exposed to it, but I can never get there on my own.)
